Sammy came in with good numbers, but he really didn't have to do anything spectacular for his draft status.

Who surprised me was Donte Moncrief, Martavis Bryant, Jordan Matthews, and Jeff Janis. Janis absolutely blew this combine up.

Marquise Lee, Mike Evans, Kelvin Benjamin, Odell Beckman, La'Damien Washington.. No thanks

The more I look at this and try not to forget about the careers of some of these athletes, I am leaning more towards a OT/defense pick in the 1st and get Moncrief in the 2nd or Bryant/matthews in the 3rd or this Janis cat later..

Lee - 6' under 200lbs and isn't strong enough. We have Tavon so we don't need another small guy.

Evans - big target with good hands, but didn't do anything in this combine especially good. Not worth a 1st rounder when others out there are faster and stronger - and will go in the 2nd/3rd.

The one thing this doesn't measure is catching ability, heart/hustle, and IQ. For this reason Bryant may be out so Moncrief or Matthews? Matthews look like he's really strong and maybe another later pick from Vandy is where we go? Moncrief looks solid, but his bench was 13 versus Matthews 21! But the fact that Moncrief ran a 4.40 at 6'2 221 is really tempting.

And just for grins.. Brian Quick's combine results:

6'4 220 ran a 4.55/40; 4.23 shuttle; 7.10 cone; bench 15; vert 34

So seeing these numbers make me question the Rams even more for drafting this kid #1 in the 2nd round.. over Alshon. LOL He didn't do 1 thing spectacular!

average, average, average... add in inexperience and WTF!?? :L

This per John Clayton from ESPN breakdown from the combine. :) I love the AJ Green comparison!! BWAHAHA!

eat it up..

4. The receiving class is for real: The concept that this is the best wide receiver draft in years is true. This group has size, speed and great pass-catching ability. One of the main drills is "The Gauntlet,'' which requires receivers to go across the field while catching passes thrown from each side of the path. Rarely did the ball hit the ground. Sammy Watkins of Clemson was clearly the best receiving prospect and is a candidate to be a top-five pick. He's 6-0¾ and 211 pounds and ran a 4.43. He catches the ball with his hands exceptionally well. He reminds me a lot of A.J. Green of the Bengals. The big winner Sunday was LSU wide receiver Odell Beckham. At 5-11¼ and 198 pounds, he ran a 4.43 40 and looked explosive with this speed and solid with his hands. His performance could vault him in the top 15. Mike Evans of Texas A&M secured a top-15 rating with a 4.53 40 and strong hands. Marqise Lee of USC might have slipped a little with a 4.52 40. Jarvis Landry of LSU had a rough day with a 4.77 40 and a tight calf. But cases can be made for more than seven wide receivers going in the first round. Brandin Cooks of Oregon State was exceptional with a 4.33. This group is deep enough to get provide quality at receiver until maybe the fourth round.

that's tough to judge. look at Brian Quick.

I think it's obvious guys that didn't play top comptetion and younger players coming out will be the one's with learning curves. the combine is more of opportunity to show the athletic skills you have.

What rounds are Janis and Moncrief going?

I bet Janis isn't picked up until the 5th and bet if we're looking to grab a WR in rounds 3-5 these guys would both be there.

I think these are two good targets for the Rams, they both have decent size and speed. They're pro-days should be very helpful for us, gotta start looking up highlight tapes. I'm sure Moncrief playing in the SEC will come in with some good experience.

Still not sure about the AJ Green comparison. They have the same vert jump but AJ is a good 3 inches taller to start with plus AJ's arms are 2 inches longer. That means AJ will be a good 5 inches taller going up for the ball. That is big. Nothing against Watkins I would rather him then a OT at 2.

General manager Les Snead, who in January said the Rams don’t “need” a No. 1 type of receiver, offered a little more flexibility when asked about it again on Friday.

“I'll say this: Any time in the draft, if you could add a really special player, that helps your team,” Snead said. “I think the biggest thing we need from the wide receiver group is experience, letting those guys get older. But, hey, it’s a deep wide receiver class. It seems like every time you get a pick, there may be a good wide receiver on the board.”

When he makes comments like these, leads me to think that he wont take one early on. Sounds like he wants a veteran, or IMO... the 3rd comment leads me to think that he believes there is talent at wr in the later rds.

Plus....it was Snead that wanted Brian Quick on day 2, 2 years ago. They were actually bragging about Quick after they drafted him.

If we take Watkins #2 overall, is Snead giving up on his golden boy Quick?? Watkins is definately a stud, but Snead had high hopes for Quick. It will be interresting to see what he does.

Why would you assume they're giving up on Quick?

You guys have been making the argument that you can't have enough talented DE's on drafting Clowney with the 2nd pick. Why can't you make the same argument with WR's? Quick should develop into a good WR maybe not a great WR but he should be good enough to help out this offense. I think Watkins is a guy that you can have on the field every down.

Honestly I don't understand why they are saying this is such a great-deep WR group. I watched every single one of these guys and no one really jumped out at the combine. Not even watkins. He looked ok but his route running looked like it will need a lot of work. Of course there will always be a WR or two that comes out of no where and turns into a great WR but you never know who that guy will be. I think Watkins will be a good WR in year 2 or 3 just like people were saying about quick. He looks very raw, talented but raw.

These are recent quotes form Snead, What do you think he means by this statements??

These are politician types of answers. You ask him a question about any position in the draft that needs to be addressed he'll give you this type of non-answer. They don't want to tip their hat or send signals to every other NFL team. I agree that Rams are very young at WR and maybe they don't need a true #1 WR but you know what I think? It's complete and utter BS. Every team can use a true #1 WR. A Dez Bryant, Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson, Fitzgerald, a Jerry Rice!!... Snead is full of it mate. :lame:

I just wanted to hear your explanation on what Snead's comments were. Like I said before, it will be interesting to see who he picks.

So you believe when he was asked about drafting a qb @#2 and he said "there aint no way" and "he's completely satisfied with Sam Bradford going forward". Do you think he was completely honest with this statement? hmm...
