Eric Reid was traded up for based on being a player Harbaugh has wanted since he was an incoming freshman.

Dont get me wrong, I do think combines and pro days can be iceing on the cake, I just dont like when it seems that people base some picks strickly on the process.

When they start doing drills ans running 40s in full pads I will look at it more serious.

Once again:

Not only did Allen not run at the combine, but he wasn't a 5th round pick. He was a 3rd round pick. He went AHEAD of Lemonier.

Allen's was a great value (everyone knew he had a high floor), but he's too much like Crabtree, Manningham & Boldin to have been a good fit in the Niners' offense. I'm much happier with Vance McDonald.
