That just means the HC will only be as good as his assistants, good luck with that business model.
Mack Brown anyone?

Was Kelly really plan A? Seems like he was more of a dream scenario than a plan A. They were going to try to woo him at his dad's funeral for fucks sake...

Don't be stupid. Notre Dame's gonna shuffle around some fat Kellys and bring him there.Once the 49ers fire Kelly I know where his next CFB coaching job will be...
Oregon State!
Ummm see my previous post. The plan was to go relatively cheap on the HC and open up the checkbook for assistants. Oregon didn't see the purpose of paying someone like Dan Mullen (And I mean no disrespect towards Mullen, he's a solid coach) $6 Million. So they got a young guy on the cheap, relatively. And now they are going to go out and let him assemble a great staff. I think it's actually a pretty smart move given the circumstances.
Seems like a pretty dumb strategy to me. It is much easier to hold on to a HC, than it is an assistant. What if UCLA calls Leavitt next year? Now what happens if you lose those Coordinators? Then you have to change your offense/defensive strategy. There is no continuity in that, which means it has real potential to harm development.
But he speaks for all of your fans doesn't he?no he was not stop drinking your own kool aid
Chip was target #1. It's OK though, we got Taggart and he will do just fine.no he was not stop drinking your own kool aid
Not to bring down the party here, but it's a circleabout a coordinator that has "One good season" and he's the next defensive great coach?

Chip Kelly was plan A, plain and simple. However, Oregon made a great hire in Taggart.

just because he was your #1 does not mean he was the #1
