Even getting a late lead feels crummy lately. Just expect our bullpen to blow it or Banister to make some brain dead move. Or both.

I've seen enough of Keone Kela and Jake Diekman this season to last 2 lifetimes. I would be more than ok if they both got left off the playoff roster as of now. Roll with the 6th starter, Claudio, Barnette, Scheppers, Bush, Dyson, and in an emergency situation Alvarez. Maybe Jeffress can get out of rehab in time to join the group.

This is 3 straight games where Hamels hasn't looked like Hamels.

I vote we skip him next time around, and see if some rest will help.
Absolutely. If we could put a few more games between us and Houston/Seattle and all but eliminate them by the time Cole's next start rolls around, I would definitely skip him. He looks tired and just not himself.

If I had to pick one to keep, I guess I'd go with Diekman, even though he's been completely unusable lately. The reason I'd take him over Kela is because he did pitch well earlier this season whereas Kela has been a total dumpster fire the whole year. Plus Diekman would give them another lefty.

Who closes this game. I would not use Dyson again.

How good is Matt Bush?! He has been their late game savior this season.

Dyson will, and I think you have to go with him just because there is nobody better left out there now. I doubt they let Bush go two innings tonight.

I know this sounds crazy but I would go with Alvarez or just stick with Claudio as the only lefty. Diekman would be a waste of a spot.

It's all about throwing strikes. Right now Kela and Diekman can't find home plate. Hamels can get away with it somewhat because he's that good.
Notice how Bush did not throw one ball in that inning. How do you think that inning went?

Yeah, I agree. I was just talking about if they had to pick one of Diekman or Kela to keep on the playoff roster, I would reluctantly pick Diekman.

Not sure Desmond was doing on the base path there.

I bet Diekman gets it figured out by postseason as Beltre lucks one in. Ha
