so, my wife got involved in the art business about 15 years ago, and started working with a very talented artist whose career was just getting going. She didn't have the disposable income to get one of his paintings at the time, but got her mom to buy a beautiful piece from the artist for $25,000.

Well, it was a big investment, and a few months later her mom got nervous about spending that much money, and pestered my wife every day to get her money back. They ended up selling it at a modest profit, despite my wife telling her that it was a big mistake.

fast forward to today, when that same painting (at least 2 or 3 owners later) just sold at auction for $5.2 million pounds.... that's about $8.3 million.

EIGHT POINT THREE MILLION FUCKING DOLLARS.
