I am not rich by any means, but I whole heartedly believe in you get what you work for. Your decisions in life play a role in where you are financially and your overall happiness past, present and future. Why should someone who works hard be charged more than "Joe Schmoe"? I have a serious question for you. Why do you assume that raising taxes is only an effort to give more money to "crackhead" moms and unemployed citizens? The national deficit is out of control and our taxes pay for things like the war, our roads, education, and the elderly.

Exactly! OUR taxes pay for all of those things. Shouldn't be someone more than the other. Should be a set percentage, no brackets. You should be taxed a specific percentage on what you make regardless of class.

It pisses me off because there are plenty of people not paying taxes. I live in the city, I know. There are tons of drug dealers, drug users and prostitutes who make all of their money under the table, tax-free and then live off of state aid while driving around in fucking BMW's and MB's.

I did read the article. You're taking the title too literally. American Wealth Distribution does not necessarily mean raising the taxes of the wealthy so that the lower class can buy jet-skis. It means raising taxes to reduce the deficit of the entire nation.

Tax money is not just spent on that stuff. It also goes to all the bullshit programs throughout the nation. And still yet, why should the rich pay for the governments fuck ups? Still not fair.

Which is smart. But as the deficit is reduced, investments also need to be made in infrastructure. I think rebuilding the railway system would be a great investment, creating jobs and reducing the cost of transporting good across the country, which would in turn reduce production costs, lower prices of America products, and increase consumption of those products.
