I read yesterday that one idea on the table to eliminate runoffs is Georgia wants to adopt ranked choice voting.

Would love to see that. Natonally, of course, but would settle for Georgia doing it. Alaska did it and it kept Sarah Palin from winning.

Ranked choice would essentially make GA blue. What people fail to realize in GA outside the US Senate it is represented state wide deep red, and they do anything to keep it that way. Heck they even try and change things at the county level to keep democrats from gaining control (IE...Gwinnett County). Starting next cycle has 4 commissioners (3 D, 1R) and a State Republican proposed a new 12 commissioner board that would essentially make it a 6/6 split.

I agree that ranked choice would be best, though I do see the 50%+/two-way runoff requirement as a decent alternative.
