Gas prices up .50* OH MY!

Paying 3 times** what other countries do for prescriptions/medicine -freedom!

*I am not completely belittling the increase, it does hurt.

**3 times lol

One is life saving and necessary.
The other is a group of people complaining while driving their monster trucks getting 10 MPG.

Literally this fits...

Seriously that is bad, very bad. I guess most of the Ukraine is becoming barren wasteland and even downwind parts of Belarus will become the same.

I am going one better. Booked a week in Odesa but I am actually going.

/not really.
//Booked 3 days myself

You know what else moved rather quickly? Prices. Supply issues and crude prices on future oil purchases making their way onto pumps that are currently pumping gas that was bought, transported, refined, transported again and put in the ground starting months ago.
Considering North America also gets basically no oil from Russia and Europe hasn’t banned oil imports from there yet (except for Portugal apparently) it’s just gouging no matter how you look at it.

Oil and gas companies are worse

And no this has nothing to do with higher prices... <sarcasm>
Let's make sure demand goes up. But not produce enough Oil to meet that demand so we can raise the prices. Wonder why the Oil companies have record profits?

I also heard the lame excuse they didn't have the capabilities? Well if they could produce that much pre-covid they have the means to do this now.

They make the same amount on every gallon no matter the price, so it must mean that in a world where Electric cars and hybrids are selling at ridiculous numbers and in general cars are using less fuel it simply means that people are buying more gas /s

The more likely excuse is that gas companies got caught with their pants down on projecting when the "return to normal" was going to happen and thus need the amount of fuel we used pre-pandemic. And they have a convenient war to blame the price gouging on. That graph all but confirms it.

Going out this weekend to look at the VW ID4, Jag I-pace and Tesla X. With my youngest starting to drive in a few months we're about ready to do a shift left on all our cars. Mrs will get the new 'lectric since she has to drive to work. I will get her SUV, the boy gets the wagon and the youngest gets to drive the old CX9 that the boy has now.

Speaking of price gouging...

Electric won’t work for me personally right now (company pays my gas anyway so I don’t really care) but I’d love to get the Mrs. one if there were a larger SUV version out but it doesn’t really seem like there are any yet. Closest thing is probably the X or the E-tron but they don’t seem particularly roomy.

My biggest objection/worry to electric was the 3-4 trips we take to the ocean every year and having to go through coal country to get there. But the charging infrastructure is improving quite a bit.

She drives a CX-5 now and isn't really happy with how big it is inside. The ID4/E-tron are the front runners for me (Being a VWphile) but neither would give her more space. She loved the CX-9, but they have not made any progress on economy in the 15 years since we bought the first one.

The I-pace is slightly bigger but also about 25% more expensive to start.

The bold is exactly what is going on. Easier to blame than do the right thing.

As for car price gouging yeah good luck with that one. I looked at a Rubicon 4Xe at the one dealer. The MSRP was $56,000 and the dealer marked it up another $15,000.

Even in those areas you can find charging stations. I know when I test drove the 4Xe (that I didn't buy due to the price gouge) on the GPS it had all the charging stations on the map so it made it easy to find.

That is the major challenge.

And the "larger" vehicles that are on the horizon like the Rivian R1S (put larger in quote because this only seats 5 people), Hummer and the full size Ford, Chevy and Dodge Pickups cost a freaking fortune.

EDIT: Never mind the Rivian has a third row seat option.

Question will you be able to get these in Canada any time soon?

And you have to love this one , to ge the more reasonable model you have to wait until 2024 and the HUGE IF they get production going.

And let me add why do a majority of electric cars have to be butt ass ugly?
