For all the hullabaloo about Trump kicking them out of the Oval it does feel like there’s a story like this about the AP on a weekly basis these days. If they’re not going to be a wire service and not going to be good at a broader attempt at journalism then I’m not sure they should exist.

Disagree strongly.

(1) The issuance of a retraction is responsible journalism and it's in short supply. No news outlet is going to get everything right, and the AP is more thorough, responsible, and balanced than most. If the AP is doing this once a week, they are getting 99.9% of the news correct.

(2) The current administration has worked so hard to intentionally mislead the public (cats/dogs being eaten, DEI causing airplane crashes, etc.) that a free and healthy press has never been more important. Ignorance has been the gasoline on this fire of bad leadership and anti-democratic sentiment. They and organizations like them are needed now more than ever.

Retract a line or issue a correction, ok. Delete an entire article? How does the article make it to publication that’s that off the mark and, in fact, almost tailored to mislead?

Or even better, when one takes completely ambiguous language and makes it so explicitly damning that it’s used in articles of impeachment? Correction: Trump-Georgia story

There are more than enough outlets out there that can do this and play the game. This is specific to AP and the particular role they played in information dissemination. AP was best trusted as a simple wire service. They seem much worse at the other stuff.

I had not noticed how many Cybertrucks were in my neighbourhood until Elon took the Presidents job. Maybe they were always there or maybe they got them after but there are 5 in a 6 block radius of my house. I can not for the life of me tell if they are new or not because I do not think they have ever updated the look since first design
My neighbourhood too.
I assume it's just the queue being filled for older purchases

In my own form of social commentary, I spit on every one that I walk by.
I also take note of the ones branded with a business to make sure that I never use their services.

oh I don't know.. maybe its the fact you are destroying peoples lives without even a second thought or even a thorough review of what those people do in the sector you are wiping out and then going on CPAC with a fucking chainsaw. I hope he catches cancer in his anus and it spreads slowly through his entire body until it reached his cold lifeless heart. you are the fucking parasite you Ketamine fueled sociopath.
The biggest thing for me is that he has the resources to solve world hunger without it limiting his lifestyle in the slightest.
Instead, he is actively cutting off food and medicine to the poorest in the world.
Just insanely evil.

Hell, even a fair number of his kids hate his guts.

I forget at what price Elon gets a margin call....

I heard recently that Michael Jordan was asked some time ago why he never got into politics. His answer was Republicans buy sneakers too.

Musk has done a bang-up job of angering a good percentage of Americans who just so happen to be the same people who would be looking to buy a EV.

But to where? We should be humane here and send him somewhere he likes. Hmmm... he seems to be quite fond of Mars.

He should show that his SpaceX rockets are safe by manning the first flight to Mars. I would throw in a sawbuck to a GoFundMe :D
