Knowing how the park gets around Gatlinburg in spring and summer this is going to be brutal. And yet again the majority of people who visit the tourist trap (Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge) with an occasional ride through the national park are the same idiots that voted for him. They will all be bitching when the shitters aren't clean or even closed. Then the parking areas around the popular spots, which get super busy, will just become trash infested hellholes.

The highlight of our family trip there a few years back was the hike up to the Grotto waterfall in the park. It was beautiful and the trail was well maintained. Parking was nuts, but also well maintained.

Will be an damn shame for that to get ruined.

It is sad for sure. I am going to be curious what is going to happen to the Llamas and those who work with them. They take supplies back and forth to Mt Leconte Lodge. If that service gets cut, I have a bad feeling the lodge will either shut down or become extremely limited.

I know a few years back I put into the lottery to stay there but lost out, that was with full access for the year. I can only image what will come of it.

There is so much more to the park that just that area in and around Gatlinburg, some of the most beautiful areas are the less visited parts like near Fontana Dam and Cataloochee.

As for the Grotto I remember the one time we got to the falls and there was some stupid influencer there doing a photo shoot and essentially trying to block the trail access behind the falls. It was so funny as a family was there wanted to get by and their kid (who could only have been 6 or 7) said to them "YOU SUCK!". I laughed my ass off.
