S.F. Giants' Cody Ross to start season on the DL

3 weeks with a strain, perhaps less. First B Wheeze, now Ross. Better to have the injuries now than later, I hope.

Possibly Belts way onto the roster? Doubtful but possible, move Huff to RF, Burrell stays in LF and Belt plays 1B. We had this same defense except with Posey at 1st last year and it didn't kill us.

Unfortunatly, I see Rowand in CF and Torres sliding over to RF.

Hopefully Ross comes back quickly and hopefully this injury doesnt nag him all year.

I think Bochy will mix it up depending upon the opposing SP. I expect to see Nate and Rowand get some ABs...Belt will go to Fresno until June.

I just do not see Belt making the team until May/June. He has been too streaky in the spring, and it could cost the Giants BIG in the long run for such a small potential gain.

Go with a Nate/Ishi platoon and hope to move one of the 3 in the first few weeks.

Now, maybe I just mis-understood, but I thought I saw that the cutoff is only 9 days this year for non 40 man roster guys to be "Super 2" status. Am I wrong?

the 9-day thing is for free agency, not super-2. Super-2 will still be around mid May or so.
