Anybody get this yet? I was a huge fan of the original MW. Probably going to get this tonight.

Ive been skipped COD for awhile. The gist I've gotten is that the campaign has a couple of standout missions and a couple that drag. Gunplay is a goldilocks style and feels good but its kinda lacking modes at the moment.

It seems like everything coming out this year has been in this 8/10 'good but not great' range with a few duds. I might just be getting old, though.

Same. I've been skipping it for a while. Never was a fan of the exo movements. I like the innovation, but it was annoying as hell to get used to. I was hoping it would just be a fad for a game, but no they stuck with it. They simplified it though which helped, but introduced specialists types, and it just removed my interest from it. I'm more of a fan of the level playing fields, and class systems that give you some strategy or benefits to your own playing style.

Also, as far as online play is concerned, I think the quality of the maps has gone downhill. The maps always look cool and have some unique features, but the overall layout designs are crap. Feels like its been this way for every game since BO2.

Haven’t owned a cod since 2019 which I didn’t like. Picked this one up to play with Ghost, Price, Soap, and the boys.

I’m 36 hours in. Campaign on Veteran probably took 13-15 hours. Game looks amazing on my 3070, haven’t had the crashing issues too much like others have reported. Crashing reported on consoles too which is extremely unusual.

I’m torn. I can’t recommend it at 70 bucks. It’s missing basic features that cod had over 10 years ago. But damn have I enjoyed my time playing so far. Campaign absolutely hit the spot, I might even try on realism. Alejandro is a dog.

Multiplayer isn’t a bunch of movement bullshit and there are a lot of weapons and attachments to try out. It’s not going to replace Siege as my go to shooter, but I can see myself playing for a few hours a week. Search and Destroy gang

The maps selection doesn’t seem huge on this iteration and while there are no real stinkers in my option, there aren’t any great maps that stand out to me either.

You can tell resources have shifted to warzone and warzone 2.0 as that is their f2p money maker and cod multiplayer is to level up guns.

I’m quite enjoying it. Haven’t touched the campaign and probably won’t but the multiplayer is very fun. I really dig all the weapon customization and the way they handle weapon unlocks now with a sort of tech tree. I don’t know if it is a permanent game type but the 3rd person mode is actually awesome.

My only real complaints:
- tanks in ground war are annoying af. Support vehicles make the mode better, offensive vehicles do not.
- ghost perk isn’t unlocked until you are essentially max level so be prepared for the enemies to know where you are most of the time
- M16 is simply not good and I hate that because burst fire guns are my favorite. It’s bad compared to the other rifles in this game and bad compared to burst fire weapons from other call of duty games.

Everyone keeps mentioning that, but I love the M16 this go around. I don't know if I found the right combo of attachments or what, but I'm using it like the original Modern Warfare M16.

The COD4 and MW2 that followed had an M16 that could kill people in one burst from most distances. It just obliterated people, a feeling that I do not get from the M16 in this new game. Tbh I had been using it on single fire and having better luck.

Shit, I have a building 21 keycard that I never used. Guess that is gonna be gone. I’ll be glad for all the (supposed) fixes coming with season 2 at least.
Things I love:

  • Resurgence... Glad to have more options to mix it up. Rebirth was awesome in W1.
  • 1v1 Gulag... so tired of getting paired with shitty teammates.
  • Better dmz mission progression... Didn't take long to encounter some missions that just took forever to complete in s1.
  • Ranked play... Hell yea. This should put the streamer's money where their mouth is.
  • AI that rushes with swords... Probably going to end up hating it, but I like the idea. Bots are already powered enough. Having 1 kamikaze with swords in tight quarters is going to be an adrenaline rush.
Things I hate:
  • 1v1 Gulag weapon pool addition... Pistols battles give the edge towards the better player, which is how it should be. Giving crap players a SMG or Assault Rifle just levels the playing field a bit. This will just add hate towards TTK once again. This game definitely keeps striving to benefit the casual players.
Neutral:
  • No more backpacks... I like the backpacks in theory. I just hate how difficult & rare it was to find the medium/large ones. Basically just pure luck that you encounter 1 if you don't hit a stronghold early. Not really a fan though that it takes away from the strategy element of the game; once again favoring the lesser players.
  • No more lootable armor vests... Again, removing strategy & leveling the playing field.
  • New weapons... Crossbow, ninja stars, etc. Should be fun to try, but otherwise just feels gimmicky. Interested to try the Hemlock though.

Lol tried to do the s2 update and it was stuck at 0.0% for about 10 minutes before I decided to cancel & retry. That ended up wiping the entire game off my console somehow.

Sick

What do you think of the update? Resurgence is fun and I’m digging Ashika. I much prefer the 1v1 gulag though I’d rather it were still pistols only.

Loving Ashika so far. It’s like mini BR trios on crack. Got back to back W’s last night.

Agreed & that’s what I mentioned in my lengthy post above. Loving 1v1 gulag but not a fan of the gun pool. Just have to be a lot more careful about positioning & targeting headshots. It’s really the only advantage you can create unless you cook a ‘nade just right.

I’m seeing more guns than just the RPK and Fennec so that is refreshing. I haven’t had time to look up what the new meta is yet. I generally ran with the M13B and I love it even more now with the slight buff it got.

DMZ on Ashika is a great change of pace too. I really like DMZ but the only time I really ever came across actual players was at exfil sites. That is very much not my experience on Ashika so far.

Even after the nerf the RPK still feels meta since it has the best distance & handling combination. The TTK may be like a half second slower but hardly noticeable.

The nerf on the Taq-V is a lot more noticeable though so that gun is more on par with ground loot. Same with the Kastov-74u. Both guns are dead to me. The Kastov-762 requires a tuned setup but it’s a dominator.

The Fennec is still good but I think the Lachman Sub has it beat now. A tuned vaznev-9k still dominates too. I’m a big fan of the minibak.

I run DMZ occasionally just for a change of pace. Sometimes the blood gets boiling a little too hot ha

Ignore everything I said above... The Hemlock is the new meta.

Got it unlocked finally and I'm never using another gun until it gets nerfed

Straight up it’s a fantastic gun. It obliterates at all ranges. The new shotgun is rather absurd as well, it can clear a room with the best of them. That’s the combo I have been running as soon as I can hit the buy station up.

Also should add that incendiary rounds in any gun that allows it are also a new meta. Turns a sniper into a 1-shot knockdown (or kill if they have 2 plates or less in).
