well I really don't believe it was all Watson fault. The oline the last few years has sucked balls yes I know at times this year it looked better but it still sucked balls. I don't mind complex blocking schemes but sometimes you just need to go man blocking and I wonder if cotton can get that through his head zone blocking isn't always the best blocking scheme for option style offense.

I firmly believe our biggest problem this past year was cutting out over half the offense so TM could play...

The blocking scheme is mostly set by the OC......

It's the OL Coaches job to teach the OL how to do what the OC wants them to do.....

I don't. I think he had a reasonable knowledge of the offense. I think that it was a combination of things that were all really obvious.

-Martinez was inexperienced (like I said I still think he knew the O)

-Martinez is a raw passer

-Martinez was injured half the season

-Receivers couldn't catch (bye gilmore!!)

-O-line couldn't zone block... (Kind of need to do that w/ the zone read)

... Oh yeah and that Shawn guy. Already forgot his last name.

Taylor didn't work nearly as hard as Cody getting the mental aspect of being a QB down, and he isn't the brightest QB in the shed.

but it was a combination of things.. injuries to the OL was also an issue, but I don't understand why the backups didn't get more reps.

Well that sure says a lot about the talent gap between the two, doesn't it?

Taylor runs really fast is what it mostly came down to. :D

then injuries happened, we regressed a little, and the playbook that was about to open up, slimmed down..

's what happens when you try to run the WCO passing game w/ a spread QB

But you can't fix stupid..........

And I don't want to rip on the kid..... but he surely doesn't look very smart...... and a lot of players and classmates say that Taylor isn't..... Which is is just as important if not more so that athletic ability......

ya.. I didn't really want to say that he wasn't to bright, but his (lack of) knowledge of the playbook is evident.

He's not even that fast.

I thought he was a sub 4.3 guy at the beginning of the year.:L Which he did look like against the likes of WKU and Idaho, but as soon as he got to Texas, every single player on that back seven could run just as fast, if not faster than him.

Honestly, I think Cody is done for guys..........I hate to say it, but I just don't think he possesses the skills as a passing QB to be able to do what we're wanting to do moving forward.

With as unconventional of a passing QB as Martinez is, he is still more accurate than Cody, and he is the future as of right now.

Cody has one more chance, and if he improves as much this offseason as he did last, then he may have something.

Someone on rivals was doing their 7 on 7 updates, or some such stupid thing, and said Jamal's been really fast and Spano has been ripping it up throwing the ball... :L

I'm not entirely thrilled with our QB situation, and hope Taylor can learn some headsmarts.

If I have a point, I guess that it's Martinez needs to develop as a passer. Maybe Beck who was the passing game coordinator at Kansas could help him with that?

When I saw Cody overthrowing those passes in the bowl game, it just showed me mechanically where he is at such a disadvantage as a passing QB.

He is going to have to learn in the offseason how to hit moving targets.........he threw half his passes into the stands against Washington.
