Read somewhere that Payton wasn't thrilled with one of the owners who was overly involved in the process and would continue in such a role regardless of who the HC was...Payton doesn't really work that way, and I'd be willing to bet that many of the top candidates agree (assuming this was correct, of course).What the hell is wrong with the Broncos job? If they wanted Payton, they'd have hired him by now. Harbaugh apparently said no thanks (a bit of a surprise). Quinn pulled out and now so has Ryans. That should alarm Bronco's ownership.
Where does that leave the Broncos? One would think they'd take a hard look in the mirror and ask why these candidates aren't interested. There were reports that Payton backed out over concerns about a power issue with ownership. All that was denied by others, but something is definitely wrong in Denver.
Seems like there has been quite a bit of dysfunction from the ownership group in Denver in general, though. Could be a reason.
