He was like 1-9 over his last 10 games against P5 opponents. The wheels had completely fallen off the bus.

I wish he had been able to hold on though because I think they may steal Napier away from us.
Shane Beamer shut down the VaTech speculation last weekend, don't know how real a thing that was or not. That would have been an impossible set of expectations - not just the job but living up to his father's accomplishments there.

LSU’s coaching staff has zeroed in on 3 candidates, and an announcement about the next head coach could come as soon as a matter of days.

The candidates are Baylor head coach Dave Aranda, Louisiana-Lafayette head coach Billy Napier and Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell, according to a report from Glenn Guilbeau of Outkick.

Aranda, 45, appears to be in the lead as he has quickly turned around the Baylor program.

It seems like Napier has decided he's ready to leave this year and has set his priority as

1A) LSU
1B) UF
2) VT

Heres to hoping he drops to us and our AD has the patience to wait for him.

That would honestly be a tough choice between UF and VaTech. On the one hand, you have the classic FL recruiting base argument. On the other, you have 4 coaches in 10 years, despite all of them winning the SEC East at least once. Virginia usually has a decent crop of recruits, and the competition isn't as stiff in the ACC.

Stephen Godfrey (Split Zone Duo) laid out basically the same arguement. Easy road to hoe in Blacksburg coaching against arguably the weakest P5 division and without the astronomical expectations, politics, and drama of UF or LSU.

Of course, UF and LSU would likely give you an extra $1-2m/yr sooooooo who knows.

Glad to see Nebraska made the adult decision, the right decision, to keep Frost...... I still say they're on the right track......

I think they need to get rid of martinez though. seems like he's been there for 10 years....
Their recruiting has improved under Frost and they may lose more than they win, but they are one of the toughest teams to beat, no matter who they are playing. They probably hold some record for the most games lost by single digits, lol.

UW & Iowa just continue to do well, Minnesota's becoming a consistent challenger, Purdue's improving, Illinois got em a new coach, I hate the guy but he's been successful, and NW either sucks or is challenging under a pretty good coach. If Nebraska starts winning those close games, the B1G West could become the most challenging, competitive and entertaining Division in the country. I mean, it's already probably at that point, but if Nebraska improves just enough to start winning more than it loses, the B1G West could be the Division putting the most teams into bowl games? Will be tough to produce a Natl Title contender with OSU hogging all the best recruits coming into the Conf and Mich, MSU & PSU so far winning the battle for the next level of recruits.

But the point about the upward trajectory of the Big West Division is the common denominator for all of the teams, quality Coaching. So I agree completely that Nebraska did the right thing keeping Frost.
