I don't usually participate in the chats. I asked him if he thought that the teams' FA position player signings were an admission by the management that the team wasn't expected to be competitive or if he felt that management really thought that they were doing the right thing. He didn't answer.

Now I do recognize that this wasn't an easy one to speak on but it also wasn't anywhere near as confrontational as some of the questions that I've known to get sent. I thought I was being respectful and I think it's a very important question.

Later I asked him a softball about the draft and he answered that one, so it seems clear that he didn't want to take the harder question.

I think a beat writer should be able to speak his opinion and write the truth, but it seems that he (and DK before him) have to put a lot of effort into being friendly to the team. I wonder if their access is restricted if they're critical of the team?

Actually he probably uses a program where it will pull keywords from questions and once it sees a word a certain number of times it flags it for response. If you were the only one to ask a question about FA signings or that wasn't a flagged area, the question probably wasn't even seen.

This is purely speculation, since i have never conducted an online q&a, but it sounds logical to me. I have thought the same thing in q&a's where i have asked questions and not received a response.

Barmes and Baja are actually coming around a little bit. Plus, they both have been kinda clutch late, I think that sac fly last night was the 4th time that one of em had a big part in a late inning win.
