The Grizz missing Gaye.
And miss 70% of the time. Bayless can create his own shot and shoots a higher percentage. Memphis might actually be missing Mayo's defense more than Rudy's offense.Gaye gives them that 1 on 1 player that can get his shot.
I wouldn't call a player that avg under double figures and a historically 41% shooter a suitable replacement for Gaye. At least Gaye was avg 17 per game. Blayless is probably going to revert back to form just about anytime now. Stepping their defense up is a given since that's their identity but they still need to manufacture points via a player that can bring it from the wing. And miss 70% of the time. Its still crazy to think that Memphis is competing at all with drafting Thabeet in 09 over James Harden, Stephen Curry, Brandon Jennings, Jrue Holliday, Ty Lawson, Jeff Teague, Tyreke Evans, etc. The legacy of missing out on Kevin Love (traded for Mayo who was unceremoniously let go) and one of those players from 09 is coming back to bite them.
Rudy Gaye was awful this year. Let it goYes rebounding is an issue. However, they are unable to manufacture enough points. Gaye gives them that 1 on 1 player that can get his shot. Your PG should not be the only player that can do that.
