If this coaching staff went into this signing period thinking that they were dead men walking, and half assed recruited, they will have probably get fired next year, when it shows up.

This decision is worse than the sanctions USC faced. They were hit hard this year in recruiting because everyone saw Helton as a coach going to get fired, look at their 60 something ranked recruiting class for proof of that. This decision to keep him doesn't boost anyones confidence that he is at USC for the long term, and he once again will be on the hot seat going into next year. Things may be even worse next year, instead of, "Does Helton get fired at end of the year?" It will be, "Does Helton get fired this week?"

My guess is next years recruiting class will be hit even harder. SC is going to have 2-3 years of really bad classes because of this decision.

Early prediction here. CP will get bored doing admin work for UW and 2021 will take USC head coach when Helton does get the axe.

USC would be about the last place on earth where you'd find Chris Petersen coaching football. USC is a pressure cooker like no other. It's win or die with the Trojans with no middle ground.

I was joking. Poking at AG. I know CP would not leave for the USC gig. CP seems like a quieter, low profile kind of person who doesn't like the spot light. At least from what I've read about him.

It already started last year. 2018 was a monster class. Most of them will be gone after next season. Last years class was in the 20’s which is unheard of for them. This one only now moved up to 67 with the addition of a couple of 3* linemen, nothing earth shattering.

They may close late on some but it will depend on the position coach changes which are said to be forced on Helton. Which won’t help the situation either thus late.

Meanwhile USC landed another 3* recruit to bring them to #67 on 247. Not only that but USC made the top 5 for a 3* OG.

Yikes. I didn't realize how bad he was doing at recruiting to USC. I'm pretty sure even I could go coach at USC and real in top 5 classes. I think that's worse than his football performances. How do you recruit this badly at that school?
