No kidding, he should have been fired at the end of last season. Cheveldayoff needs to stop being gutless and start making some trades.

Paul Maurice takes over as coach of the Jets (I hope that doesn't mean Noel goes to TSN, he's very boring)

Now the next thing they need to do is look for a legitimate goaltender

So Cheveldayoff, - or as I like to call him, Lazydayoff - does a shit job at fixing the mess that came up from Atlanta, but in the end naturally it's Noel's fault? :L

About time!

The Jackets announcers were speculating on this last night. Apparently their booth is directly across from the GMs box and in the second period they said that Cheveldayoff threw something and stormed out of the box. Didn't come back.

Not sure what he saw that pissed him off so much. I guess he had a specific request that Claude did not follow. :noidea:

Giving up 4 goals in the first 9 minutes of the 2nd period will do that to you

And I read that Chevy called Paul Maurice the day/evening of the Tampa game(I think after that game) and asked him if he was interested in being the head coach of the Jets, so I guess this was just a thing that stemmed and was the final straw that broke the camel's back

Sure it's good for him. But personally I wonder how he keeps getting hired.

He took the Canes to the Finals one year and he's still relatively young - now there might be better options out there but this isn't the worst hire

He's a .500 coach over 15 seasons and has made the playoffs 4 times. Colour me unimpressed.

The teams he has had haven't been all that talented, to be honest

I'm more likely to accept that excuse from a guy that's only coached a couple of seasons. He's got a long resume with very little on it that's impressive, and since that finals appearance 12 years ago the teams he's coached have shown little to no improvement with him behind the bench.

And one could also raise the indirect argument that if he were a particularly good coach someone would have probably hired him to coach a team that you thought was talented at some point.
