Yeah I can't see Hillman coming back. Most likely the RB position is now about the draft. They probably won't use a top-3 pick on a RB now but at some point they will bring in another guy to compete. I will say I do know the coaches this off season have mentioned the name Kapri Bibbs on a few occasions.

I'm cool with Bibbs getting an extended look this camp. I've heard alot of good things about him, and I remember a few plays during preseason where he did some good things.

Has anybody even heard anything on Hillman?

There is absolutely nothing on Ronnie Hillman that I can find. Looks like his market has been completely quiet. He might be one of those after the draft type signings on a 1-year prove it deal. He is good enough to be on an NFL roster but not good enough that you can't just go and find a cheaper draft pick to do what he does.

Bibbs the big thing from what I have understood has done great carrying the ball in practice but has been the worst of any of the RB's pass blocking. Have to see if he can improve on that area as I do really think he would do well in this system.

Ronnie Hillman has had no visits yet. Shouldn't be a surprise though. He will probably be one of those one year deals to compete in camp. I don't think anyone is in a hurry to sign him right now.

I think this is pretty big news. It shows the Bronco value the way CJ plays and his leadership on the team - and he wanted to be a Bronco. I read or heard the Bears offered him more than the Fins.

They can't get to Kaepnernick now until they clear some space or go with a cheaper option - or lessen Clady's cap count this year by about $5 million. For the first time - I'm thinking Clady may not be coming back.

Cap Hit wise this year this deal stinks for the Broncos. The nice thing though is beyond this year it is a very team friendly deal. Throw in like said above he is a great locker room guy and a true 3-down RB for the Broncos. Just hope he is ready to roll from day 1 this year not start going in week 8 of the season. Done that now 2 years in a row. Maybe needs to go work out with Tony Horton and Eddie Lacy to make sure he is ready for training camp.
He was actually on NFL live via telephone and they ask him to respond to Elways tweet regarding " We have high expectations for CJ" after the announcement and they asked him what his expectations are and what he needs to do to get better, etc. Besides saying he wants to be named amongst some of the best including Betis, he said he needs to dedicate himself better in the off season and come into camp fit and ready to go if he wants to be recognized and mentioned as one of the top backs, etc, etc. You can prob find his "conversation" somewhere if ya care to listen I suppose. He also said something like taking plays off which didn't bode well with me and also said he did feel disrespected by Denver. So.......:noidea:

Apparently he's the 3rd highest paid RB this season behind AP and Doug Martin, let's hope he shows up for all 16 games this year and not just the back 8.

Watched his live interview couple hrs ago on NFL Access. Much better than his phone interview. Denver needs him for his familiarity with the offense as much as they need his talent. He's probably going to be the most experienced "go to guy" in the backfield going into camp when you figure all the changes with personnel that's going to happen. He will be busy helping the new additions get acclimated with the Kubes system. He is the smartest guy on that offense now.:)

I think Elway really wiffed here. If you were going to keep CJ a higher tender made much more sense.

I think they only matched because they had the money after Brock cut and run. I guess that's a fair reason and not at all disappointed to have CJ back it, but they could've found a way to fit the higher tender price with or without Brock. Based on his reaction it sounded like CJ was surprised too and probably disappointed.

Oh well its one position we don't need to find a starter at (definitely need some depth though).

It did seem like the higher tender made more sense. But:
1. We actually have a smaller cap hit this year at $1.99 MM compared to a $2.36 MM price tag if we had tagged him.
2. He may be the 3rd highest RB this year - but that's an anomaly as he had the big bonus that will be spread over 4 years due this year.
3. The $4.5 MM per year average might end up being a relative bargain if he plays for 4 years without any major injuries.

I agree, PT, that is one less position we don't have to address early in the draft now - and last night it appeared that we would have to do so.

overthecap has this year's cap hit at $2.081 MM - so a little higher than I thought but still less than the 2nd round tender would have been.

I am glad you heard wrong.

It was reported by IPN. Same website that was the first to report that it was matched yesterday, same to first report Manning trade. Usually a reliable site.

With how surprised most of the Denver Reporters were yesterday my guess is at one point the Broncos had said they were letting him go and at the last minute changed their minds. This is one of those that you definitely have to go back and forth on.

Agree- It was almost like they changed their mind over night... Really sorta crazy. Elway really pampered up CJ Anderson after we matched which makes me think he felt he had some sucking up to do now that he was going to keep him around.

Makes sense. I mean CJ was pretty open that he felt disrespected by Elway with the low tender. So makes sense that Elway then has to doing some sucking up to the guy. Thankfully CJ seems like a quality guy that will just let this roll on by and will do what he has been asked to do. Glad we kept him especially after seeing the salary cap hits for the Contract. Get a draft pick to pair with him for the next 4 years and our RB group won't be costing a ton while having some possibly quality pieces to work with.
