One of the great all-time football photographs. Bednarik towering over a knocked-out Frank Gifford.
People said he wasn't actually celebrating the KO though, he didn't know yet that Gifford was out cold. He was celebrating that he had just caused a game-changing turnover.
Bednarik was rumored to be racist in his later years, which kind of marred his legacy, but he was one of the all-time great linebackers, and one of the last two-way players (he also played center). Won two championships, including only championship win ever against Lombardi's Packers in 1960, before the Super Bowl era.
By most accounts the greatest Philadelphia Eagle of all time.
PS they didn't worry about broken fingers in his day: "Concrete Charlie" just played through those kind of injuries, and had the hands to prove it.
