What's with you and not wanting Volchenkov? I know he would put us without a whole lot of wiggle room, but come on, he is what the caps need most

He is going to command at least 4 years and more likely 5. We are coming up on some big time re-signing in the next two seasons in Laich, Semin, Green Carlson, Alzner and the two kids in net. Add in the potential of Gustavsson or Johansson emerging as a star and I want cap room and short term rental type deals.

Also,I do not see why people keep saying that Volchenkov is what we need. We need a PHYSICAL, stay at home defenseman. That is not Anton's game. He shut down Crosby for a couple of regular seasons but did not fair to well in the playoffs against him, but it weas not because of his physicality. I do not know if Volchenkov is great, or it is all Phillips, or a combination of both but I am not willing to take a chance on signing the next Wade Redden or Derek Morris. I always shy away from getting the "hot commodity" in a players market. A bad, long term deal for a glorifed Tom Poti is not something that I want to see the Caps get into. Rent a guy for a year, even if you have to overpay a little bit, but for the love of God do not get wrapped up in another multi-year Nylander situation.

Phaith.. bernier and hamhuis yes, price no.. i dont think price will be all he's cracked up to be.. plus i saw a rumor that the habs want giroux for price (it was an 'insider' thing so i didnt read the whole article).. but if the flyers trade giroux for carey price i'm cutting off my leg

EDIT: upon further review, the intro to that article is "this aint happenin if thats the asking price".. and also further down their list apparently briere, carter, and giroux aren't going to be dangled on the trade market.. giroux and briere is kinda common sense, carter kind of surprises me.. i would think homer would at least look around

hmmmmm...a shut down D pair. hopefully bringing up guys like lovejoy (who still needs to resign) and engyland (i can NEVER spell his name) will help, but they need one new guy IMO. i wouldn't mind resigning one of leopold and eaton. personally i don't want gonch back, and in replacing him i hope they can get a younger Dman (michalek...i'd love him). and perhaps a winger for once...but who knows. whitney a possiblity and a few others out there (most out of the price range) all i know is IN SHERO WE TRUST!
