Padres beat writers were reporting on twitter this morning that Denorfia was at Petco packing his shit and told them he was gone.

Tell us about the guy Hammer. Contact hitter? Reliable to get a guy in from 3rd with less than 2 outs? Does he go the other way or pull only?

I hope he gets playing time which he never got with the Padres. will never forget his walkoff at Petco against the Cuban Missile.

I don't know much about this guy but this year he's hitting .242 with 1 hr and 16 RBI/

not really the splash I was hoping they would make for right field

I fucking LOVE Chris Denorfia, as most Padres fans do. Massive plate discipline and sharp as a tack. Solid leadoff guy and fabulous 2-strike hitter. In fact I think I heard he's the best in the league with 2 strikes and he can go the other way.

You'll love him.

Gave up Almonte and a pitching prospect to be named.

Shit for shit deal, same as always.

I'm betting the Pads still come out on top.

Doesn't get a lot of consistent playing time...with the Pads. Kind of says it all.

IMO, that's more of a reflection on the Padres mishandling and overpaying Maybin and Carlos Quentin. Despite that Chris kept his head down and his mouth shut.

Best 2-strike hitter in the league.

He's a solid veteran guy. He's basically gonna be our right handed hitting Endy Chavez.

Denorfia is a career .275 hitter and has hit over .270 the past 4 years. If he can come anywhere close to that, he's an automatic upgrade.

For his career, he owns an OPS+ of 106 and a line of .301/.367/.443 against left-handed pitching.

Even if he doesn't get back up to his career average numbers, he's still an upgrade for this shitty offense.

As a trade, it's perfectly fine. It addresses about 2% of the needs this team has to contend for anything.

I'm fine with just giving up on this year if it takes selling the farm to get anywhere near the level of real contenders. Hoping there's some sort of plan for next year is all.

Its a decent move if your offense wasnt epically bad. But as a rule of thumb if you can't earn consistant PT on the pad's. your not gonna help this offense get over its huge hump.

He will replace Romero likely so it's an upgrade. Not flashy but an upgrade

And turning Abe Almonte into a major league player of any caliber is an automatic win. They can't all be big time trades.
