Gatineau comes back from a 3-1 series deficit and wins game 7 5-2 over the Remparts. Adieu, Patrick Roy.

Olympiques rebound from series deficit to eliminate Remparts

Ha! I was kinda hoping for the Remparts for the same reason. Its always an exciting atmosphere whenever Roy and the Remparts come to town. Some people around here love him but most dislike him. Plus Quebec city is much closer so there'd be less travel and more Remparts fans would make the trip which always makes it more fun.

Sea Dogs take game 1 in a close one. Simon Despres scored the winner in the 3rd and the Sea Dogs lead 2-1. This series looks like it could be closer than many were predicting for 2 reasons. 1st one is that the Sea Dogs have a couple key injuries to veteran forwards at the worst time of the year after being relatively healthy all season long. And the other reason is Gatineau's goalie Maxime Claremont (or something like that) who is a Devils prospect has been playing great. Tonight's game could have been 4-1 or 5-1 if not for him.

Kootenay rebounds to win game 2 7-5...Mac Carruth is a streaky goalie for the Hawks, when he's on, he's very good, but when he's off, he looks like Hardy Astrom.

Sea Dogs lose 3-2 last night to Gatineau who tie the seres at 1-1. Defenceman Simon Despres scored both goals for the Sea Dogs and has now scored 75% of their goals in the finals. Sea Dogs are without 2/3 of their 2nd line due to injury but the other big guns Huberdeau, Phillips, Galiev, and Jurco have all been relatively silent so far this series. Maxime Clermont, who I believe is a Devils pick, stopped 38 out of 40 shots for Gatineau.

Apparently the Winterhawks spent a lot of time in the Penalty Box early in this one. Including 2 majors. They were down 6-1 before mounting a comeback only to fall short.

What do you think of Sven Baertchi? He's had a great 1st year in the WHL & playoffs. He could be available when the Flames pick.

I've heard some very good things about him and if he's available, the Flames should definitely consider him. What about Ty Rattie, local Calgary kid, he's got game.

The biggest concern I've heard about Rattie is his willingness to play both ends of the ice. He was on fire at the beginning of the season. He tailed off a bit I guess. Rattie is considered a 1st round pick in the 20 to 30 range. While Baertchi could go in the 11-20 range.

I'm just happy that the Flames have a first round pick...and they better keep it and select a skilled forward (preferably a center)

Center seems to be a deep postion at the top of the draft.

RNH
Huberdeau
Couturier
Strome
Abdinajad

The problem is if the Flames are going to get one of them they'll probably have to trade up.

IMO Bartschi should be (and will be) a top 10 pick. Kid's a stud.

Well the Sea Dogs finally put together a dominating performance in the Q finals winning 5-0 in Gatineau to remain perfect on the road in the playoffs (8-0), and more importantly take a 2-1 series lead. Jonathan Huberdeau finally finds the scoresheet in the finals scoring a goal and getting many other chances and was named 1st star. And just to give you an indication how badly the Olympiques were outshot in terms or both quality and quantity, Gatineau's goalie Maxime Clermont was named 2nd star despite letting in 5 goals, and the Sea Dogs goalie Jacob DeSerres gets a shutout yet finds himself "shutout" of the 3 star honours. Clermont has gotten 1 of the 3 stars in each game so far.

Maybe Clermont can play for the Flyers next year.:D:
