Portland beats Spokane 3-2 in OT in game 3 tonight. It's one of those games I talked about where Spokane was better but it still wasn't enough to overcome Portland's talent. Of course when Peters and Leipsic get 2 goals against you that's not good. Portland's got too much top end talent to let those guys get goals.

This was a backbreaking loss for the Chiefs. It wouldn't shock me at all if Portland closes this series out in 5. I hate to say that I've lost faith, but this series against Portland is just way too similar to the one they played last season.

Johansen
Niedereiter
Cunningham
Ross
Rattie
Baertchi

I could go on. Yes the Winterhawks are loaded up front.

I wouldn't give up yet though. All three games have been decided by 1 goal. Anything can happen.

They say stuff like at the Draft Party we're going to be doing the DOUGIE. Is there some kind of dance I don't know about?

No idea where this came from or why its called "The Dougie". Nor do I have any idea why these people thought it would be a good idea to record him doing it in the middle of a busy street or how he and the ice cream truck never noticed each other. :L

The Sea Dogs came back from an early 3-0 defecit to beat the Maineiacs 6-5 and sweep the series. Huberdeau had another goal and Kabanov had an assist but didn't score a goal for the 1st and only time in the series. I honestly wasn't expecting this series to be a sweep. Games 1 and 4 were both close and Lewiston gave up leads in each. It could have been a much different series if they could have held on.

In the other semi-final the Quebec Remparts take a 3-1 lead over the Gatineau Olympiques and are hoping to close it out in game 5 at home.

here is a much more pleasant view of 'the dougie'.
I have no idea what it is either. i was doing a search for Kate Upton

also, is Max Reinhart Paul's kid?
that explains where the talent comes from.

The Chiefs showed what they're made of tonight with a convincing 8-3 win over Portland to tie the series at 2-2. I actually didn't think this was Spokane's best game of the series (still game 1 IMO) but they did convert their chances tonight which was something they failed to do a lot in the first 3 games of the series. Every time I think this team is down and out they surprise me, hopefully they can keep it going. The Chiefs finally got the home ice monkey off their back against the Winterhawks as well.

Quick turnaround with game 5 tomorrow night in Portland (who came up with this schedule anyway). If the Chiefs can ride the momentum of this game into Portland and take it, they'll have a chance to close out Portland at home on Monday night. Get it done Chiefs!

Portland beat Spokane tonight 3-2.

Sven Baertchi was the story tonight. He was involved in each goal for the Winterhawks 3 points & a +3 for the future 1st round pick in the 2011 draft.

Another game in this series where the score didn't tell the story only this time it was in Portland's favor. The Winterhawks dominated this game and fully deserved the win. Reid absolutely stood on his head for the Chiefs and single-handedly kept Spokane in the game.

Gut check time for Spokane. It's win or go home now. We'll see how they respond.

Portland beat Spokane 6-3 tonight. Nino with 1G 1A. Portland wins the series 4-2.

Kootenay vs Portland for the WHL Championship & the opportunity to play in the Memorial Cup.

This should be one hell of a series, Portland should be slightly favored based on regular season play, but Kootenay has been playing incredibly well in the playoffs.

When a team is on fire like Kootenay it's tough to stop them let alone slow them down. Portland has the firepower to do it though. Like you said it's going to be a great series.

No shame in losing to the Winterhawks this season. What a great team. I'll be rooting for them to win it all. Like I said earlier in the thread, I don't think I've ever seen another junior team with as much talent as Portland has. It's incredible. I always pull for the WHL rep in the Memorial Cup, but if Portland makes it, I think this is the first time I'll ever actually be rooting for the WHL rep (aside from when Spokane is in it anyway).

Fun year from the Chiefs. Most every prognosticator had Spokane finishing either in one of the last playoff spots or out of the playoffs completely. I thought they'd be better than that, but I never expected anything like the season they had. They're a young team, and some of the losses at the top will hurt for sure, but the Chiefs will be damn good again next season. I might even call them the favorite to win the US division, depending on who Portland gets back.

Cowen is NHL ready, no question. He'll go to Binghamton and will make an impact in the AHL playoffs this year. The Atlanta FO is full of idiots (not that we didn't already know that) if they don't sign Koper, best forward in this series for the Chiefs bar none. And I sure hope Reid gets a FA offer from someone. He was incredible the whole series and really throughout his entire junior career.

Are you from Maine? And yes they surprised a few people. The 1st round was a 8 vs 9 matchup so people gave them about a 50/50 chance of pulling it off. But very few people gave them a chance to beat Montreal. They were swept by my Sea Dogs but the good news for you is that the Sea Dogs have Devils' prospect Eric Gelinas playing for them. He was picked up during the Christmas trade period and has been an excellent addition.

Tonight the Sea Dogs will find out who their opponent will be in the QMJHL finals. Quebec and Gatineau meet for game 7 at the Colisee in Quebec.

I'm rooting for the Remparts just so julian's team has the pleasure of sending Patty Roy's club to the links.
