Just lulz, lulz everywhere!
The battle between the CAL Athletic department and the CAL administration/academics is a battler that has been going on for a long long time.Chip coaches for the love of the game.
Cal has no money to offer him.

Dykes was pulling in almost 3 million at Cal. Kelly made about 3.5 plus bonuses at Oregon his last year there. The difference isn't that unsurmountable.
Thanks for the reminder.Especially when you consider he's still being paid by the Eagles and Niners

But.....But.........Uniforms en such??Oregon is not a football school. The "rabid fan base" has already decreased to the point where they really aren't even the semi-nuesence they used to be. It takes longer than a decade of above average play to create a true culture.
But.....But.........costumes en such??
I will just create this thread given that when I signed in there was about a dozen notifications with people mentioning me about Chip Kelly going to Cal now that Dykes has been fired.
I will respond to those who seem to think this is a possibility. It is not going to happen. Plain and simple. There are so many factors that play a role in this as to way Chip would not go to California Golden Bears. I believe Minnesota had a better chance at landing Kelly then Cal does. Yes it is that improbable.
Look, Chip has a great relationship with the UofO and Phil Knight. IF he were to return to coaching in the college ranks, he would not go to the PAC-12 let alone the PAC-12 North. Chip showed how loyal he is with staying with San Francisco and not bailing on them with games remaining on the schedule. We got a little peak of who he is and its loyalty. He wouldn't go into the same conference and same division as those he respects at the UofO.
Cal also is more focused on academics then they are athletics, so don't expect Cal to fork out the money or even care that much to have success on the field to try and get Kelly. The Bears simply don't care.
Cal's athletic department I have read is already in massive debt, and hiring Kelly and his staff would further put them in mega debt. Read the few sentences above about Cal not caring about athletics and I don't see their admin agreeing to pay a lot of money for a head football coach.

The biggest obstacle to Cal hiring Chip is the UC system. It because of all of the bureaucracy and red tape, it takes 3 months to hire or fire someone. That's why they couldn't get Dykes fired until now.
The biggest obstacle to Chip wanting to go to Cal is that Cal apparently wants to be Stanford.
Beginning, I believe, this coming season, 80% of their recruits are going to have to have a minimum 3.0 average.
Shhh....the if the Bammers find out they won't be happy until they drive the thread to #2.Lol...do a search of "Chip Kelly to Cal" and this thread shows up in the top ten
