I realize the biggest thing on our minds (at least football related, that is) is how the Broncos appear to be in a bit of a skid. But tonight I am going to ask you to forget about all that frustrates you about the Broncos season at this point. Tonight let's try to watch our two biggest rivals battle it out. And let's enjoy it because tonight we can't lose.

What do I mean?

Whenever two AFC West teams not named the Broncos play each other, the worst thing about it is that someone is going to win. But that also means someone is going to lose. So who do we want to lose more? It depends on if you are looking long term or short term.

If you are looking short term, you want to see the Chiefs lose tonight. At 7-3 these Chiefs are playing some of the best ball in the league right now and you can make an argument they are actually better than the Broncos at this stage. But the Raiders derailing them helps the Broncos cause this season, assuming the Broncos in turn take care of their business.

If you are looking long term, you want to see the Raiders lose tonight. This will drop them to 0-11 and still in the running for an 0-16 season. I realize this would put the Chiefs in a better position in their AFC West campaign of 2014, but this season will end one way or another and if the Raiders finish it at 0-16 they will go down in history as one of the worst of all time, a stigma I'd love to see slapped on the Raiders.

I trend toward the long term, especially since the Broncos already have a win over the Chiefs and a shot at them again in Arrowhead in just a little over a week. I am confident this Broncos team is going to get its act together and still win the AFC West so a Chiefs win tonight just gives us a temporary boost in angst as the race comes to a head. And a Raiders loss preserves a still-winless season, something it will take that franchise a LONG time to live down.

Your thoughts?

I don't know, but it seems to me that there is little room for further stigma on the Raiders. Haven't they been among the two or three worst teams in the league for about ten years straight now? Not that there is anything wrong with that, of course.

Personally, I'm hoping for the upset, but not expecting it. Then again, I have been horrific at picking Thursday night games, so who knows?

Well, like I said, I actually preferred a Raiders loss so we could preserve that magical winless season, but we knew the Raiders would swipe a game or two this year sooner or later. And this really does help the Broncos now, so I won't complain.

Now the Broncos better get out there on Sunday and hold serve against a good Dolphins team.

Go Broncos!

Potentially a big lift for the good guys that the bad guys won. Good guys have to take advantage, however, beginning with a Sunday fish fry.

I'm so friggin' happy the chefs lost last night. I have two guys in my office who are total chef homers, and they keep razzin' me about Denver having to go to KC next week, and they're gonna take the division lead....blah, blah, blah.

Can't wait to see those douchers today. I hate the Raiders, but not last night!!!

I'm not looking to the future! Yes it would be great to see a Raiders team go 0-16 but if that 1 win is something that actually helps the Broncos then I will take it. One of only a handful of times that I can say I was cheering for the Raiders. I was questioning if something like that might happen with it being a Thursday night game. They have shown to be games that nobody knows what to expect from them so the Raiders getting their first win fits with how the Thursday Night games have gone.

This is was huge, huge help to the Broncos. The road to the AFC West just got much easier. As long as Denver beats the Raiders at home to close out the season, and either the Chiefs or Chargers, they will own the tiebreaker (due to a better division record) over every AFC West team. That is a really big deal.

If the Broncos can win the next two games, that would give them a two game lead over the Chiefs with the tiebreaker with only 4 games to play, realistically ending the Chiefs chances at the division.

For the Broncos, the road to the division title is pretty clear: win all 3 remaining home games, and beat either the Chiefs or Chargers on the road. That should be enough to get it done.
