I was taught to roll the dough out like a big thin pizza crust and let it sit and semi dry out
cut into strips, then break them into 2" long pieces as you drop them in

Mother did the roll and cut for years, then switched to roll into ball and drop. Quicker and the dumplings are fat but fluffy.

Try it once to compare.

and my grandmother would tell you that "easy" is going to the store and buying a chicken instead of going into the back yard and lopping one's head off to cook that night...... and even she used frozen dumplings after awhile because the dough wasn't worth the extra effort.
Was just checking you man. I've got nothing against frozen biscuits. This is what we use if we're having biscuits at my house.

But biscuits are biscuits, not dumplings imo.

That being said, I'll try your frozen dumpling trick one day. :suds:

I wasn't talking about frozen biscuits, but frozen dumplings. Something like these...

I got you. The comparison to using biscuit dough is what had me questioning. I get it now that you were just talking about the whole dough making process.

Yep. Sorry for the confusion. Making your own dumplings from scratch is better than the store bought ones, just not enough ***to me*** to justify the extra work. To each their own though. Chicken N Dumplings are the shit regardless. :suds:

Just made some with the instant pot. Used biscuit dough.... Not making my own in a Tuesday, haha.

That sounds good... when dried like that, a dumpling should soak up more of the soup/sauce/flavor.
