you poor bastard

I may have asked the wrong question.

Which is better:

Option 1: gravy on the chicken fried steak and dry mashed potatoes.

Option 2: ketchup on the chicken fried steak and gravy on the mashed potatoes.

The point is a little moot as when I make mashed potatoes they are never dry but we do tend to run a little short of gravy.

This is like asking if it's better to be wrong or really wrong. The correct answer is gravy on the steak, gravy on the potatoes.

Go forth and sin no more.

I still don't know why the hell they call it chicken fried steak. It doesn't taste like chicken at all. Which makes me really wonder, since everything is supposed to taste like chicken.

The breading and preparation is the same thing you do with fried chicken.

It's also the same thing you do with fried calamari... or fried mozzerella sticks... or fried shrimp... or fried catfish...

If your batter is the same for all those, no thanks!

I meant more the basic idea. You batter it and throw it in the deep fryer.

But the point is that it's battered and cooked like fried chicken.
