Slumps happen. Jeter was pretty anemic against the Sox in the 2004 ALCS (6-30, .567 OPS) and he went 3-17 in the 2007 ALDS (.353 OPS). Ortiz was pretty godawful in the 2003 ALDS (2-21, .317 OPS).

He's still pretty damn young, but he's already one of the top players under 25.
