What a dumass play on 4th down...run at them...

Going for it at that part of the field on the opening drive just doesn't make sense for me. Your defense isn't that horrible

Do you believe another team will trade a 2nd for him. I sure don't see a first and not sure I see anybody that desperate. FT'd is franchise tagged, right? Want to make sure we're talking about the same thing.

Wouldn't surprise me. The franchise tag (FT - correct) is just to secure his rights so no other team can snatch him up without a trade.

Next years draft class is horrible for QBs... and naturally some will go early, but I don't see really any alternative with a 2nd rounder at QB that is going to be better than a 28 year old QB coming off a pretty damn good season. Someone could take a flyer for a 2nd, and do a 2 year $50M deal with incentives kind of thing.

Firstly the franchise tag is expected to be 41m, next year. I don't see it. I'm not sure how the rules work as far as taking the tag off or rescinding the rights, but to me it would make more sense to sign him to something that is reasonable and then trade him if McCarthy is it.

Why the fuck are the Vikings in colts uniforms??

I don't quite get the white at home thing...ESPN loves it, so I guess that's totally woke or some nonsense. You know, don't want to upset the Scandanavians.

I'm guessing they'll keep Darnold and McCarthy. McCarthy is still with the team and it's not like they sent him into exile, they probably asked him to figure out the playbook, watch tapes and figure out how to be a NFL QB. I also think they'll resign Darnold unless the price tag is ridiculous, it can't hurt to have him around and if McCarthy develops they can then trade Darnold. Right now he appears to be an asset, you don't just let assets walk away.

I just looked, he has a 1 year 10m contract, what do you think it would take to resign him? I know it only takes one other bidder to drive the price up, but would a 3year 100m be something another team would do?
Something like Mayfield got probably.

Oh you might be right. Jesus I can't remember what the rule is. Like you tag and some team can offer more but then has to give up picks or something, although I think you can still trade with FT but the acquiring team gives up their FT or has to sign to some longer term contract and has to be greater value or some bullshit....

.............

God dammit, my mind is not in offseason mode yet! I'm not prepared for these questions and scenarios!

No way Minny franchise tags Darnold either. Think that would be like 50-55 mill or so....he won't get that on the open market.....they going to roll with McCarthy next season, despite how surprisingly good Darnold has looked this season.

So a 3rd compensatory is prob. the hope. Not a bad return for a guy seeing ghosts a few years back.

I don't know exactly either, but putting the FT on them immediately adds that to your cap until it's resolved. I honestly believe it would be workable to sign him to a 30m ish contract and then keep or trade depending on McCarthy. Then again, nobody in the NFL pays me for my ideas, so there's that.

I think they'll go the route that gets them the most compensation without putting themselves in harms way. I'd sign him if I could for somewhere in the 30m and 3 year deal.

That's it for a QB?

Thought it would be more than that. I still doubt they do that.
