As an NFL football fan, I don't want to see the name change but you have to admit that was a pretty powerful message regardless of your stance

Regardless of whether you agree with the message at the end of the ad, and I do NOT, you can't deny that it's a sophisticated and powerful piece of media. The images alone are haunting and beautiful. Then bam, the Redskins logo.

This ad is Guaranteed to stir the pot in its efforts to divert the debate of 'intent and context' of the name and mascot . It blatantly panders to the emotions, implying a complete lack of respect on the part of The Skins franchise.

And I think, it will be successful in creating outrage for those who know nothing of this issue.

It may not bother you two, but it bothers the hell out of me.

Look guys and gals this PC train is rolling and it ain't gonna stop anytime soon. When...and I hate to say it but when this team is forced to change its name is only a matter of time. If I drive a jeep Cherokee am I offending anyone??? Something offends everyone so no name is safe. Best thing IMO is drop the red keep the skins and go back to the spear helmet and be done with it. But kudos to Danny for saying FU to the PC Police

You may sadly be correct Kevin. I continue to hold out hope, that people will use their god given intelligence on this issue. Probably delusional of me, with the herd like mentality of so many people these days. :noidea:

I don't live in America to be pigeon holed into thinking the same way about everything as my neighbor. We don't have to agree but I'll fight for your right to believe as you may. Diversity of thought and majority rules is the foundation of our republic.

If it comes to be legislated, so be it. But I don't have to agree with or like it one damn bit.

Slippery slope going on here. what's next with these PC lunatics? Big brother is gonna tell you how to think and try and tell you how to live, that's what.

Cali... the whole thing was designed to tug at the heart strings. To inspire guilt for how the Native American has been and continues to be treated. Then it shifts to say.. well the Redskins are responsible for how these people are and have been treated. Trust me, as a black man in America, I feel for the plight of the Native American because historically they got the shaft just as much and in some ways worse than the first black Americans. But I simply dont see what a simple name change of a football team will accomplish. No one is telling them that they have to embrace the team. They dont even have to like the name. But no one has the right to make the team change the name. And if they are forced to ( as I expect they will be) It will simply be another case of political correct over ruling personal choice. Welcome to the Socialist republic of America, which is slowly what we are becoming.

Of course that ad was designed to do that. And I couldn't agree with you more on all the points you've made.

My only point is that the ad achieved what it wanted. To stir the pot. Thus it was a successful ad.

Those who are not knowledgeable about the issue, will react. It's delusional to think the ad will make no impact, is all I'm saying.

The rest of us know where we stand already, because we've researched it and chosen stances accordingly.

What chaps my ass are the people who don't bother to THINK first in order to make an informed and rational decision. No matter what the issue. Pure comedy gold.

/end rant.

As a black man, would you be ok with a professional team calling themselves Blackskins? And having a black man as the logo?

To be clear, I don't want the Redskins to change their name, I'm an NFL fan and it just wouldn't sound right. But I'm just curious what your take is on calling a team "Blackskins".

As I have seen posted on several other sites - change the current logo to a picture of a Redskin Potato & then keep the name since at that pt. it will no longer represent Native Americans. Kidding - kind of....

its apples and oranges

for the love of god the HC and 6 players were native americans on the team when they changed to redskins from braves and they didnt complain . hell the HC suggested it

The problem with that stance is that some people - whether correct or not - believe that the term Redskin is/was also used as an honorary term. You can debate that, but there is certainly no way anyone could argue that "Blackskins" is a good term.

BTW - if the Redskins change their name then expect the name & logo for your hockey team to also change. I know that the name is not derogatory. However - do you honestly believe that the PC crowd will stop with this name change? These guys are the ultimate egomaniacs, and one of their traits is focusing on this type of BS to divert attention away from their lack of legit accomplishments.
