No, in an 8 team playoff, by the time it got down to 4, the teams that are hot would be playing each other. Notre Dame would have been out by this point.

Just goes to show the blue hairs can harp all they want on defense and defense is important but unless you have an offense that can score points you got no chance.

Best to have both, but if you can't score, you can't win.

And it's not like you have to score 50+ to be a great offense. Have a dominant run game and an accurate QB that can eat up a lot of clock and maintain drives works just fine too.

When you're all defense and no offense, you're Mississippi State.

That is my only problem with all of this - - - some years it's "best teams" and other years it's "most deserving".

That's why I call it an "Invitational" rather than a playoff. They can invite whomever they please and justify it however they please.
