If someone has a personal connection to a college team, it is really great to follow them.
Cheering for a pro team (any sport) in the words of an old writer Bernie Lincicome, "cheering for a pro team is just cheering for laundry".

Now garbage time in the OSU-Tennessee game might make the game look closer than it really is, just like last night with Indiana.

For my entire life during bowl season

Me- " well yeah the SEC played well. Pretty much every one of their bowl games is a home game played in weather that favors them"

SEC fans- " oh whatever dude. Where the game is and the weather have nothing to do with anything!! SEC is just the best!!"

Then finally, after 47 years, an SEC team comes to the Midwest in December

And proceeds to lose by a million points

And their best player has to quit in the first quarter because his muscles locked up because of the cold

Im shocked. TRULY SHOCKED.

" See Indiana lost by 10 at ND! That proves an SEC team should've been in!"

"See SMU got smoked by Penn State! That proves an SEC team should've been in!!"

Tennessee loses by 3 dozen points.

" ummmmmm. Well....... uh......."

Lol

NEW STAT:

Teams that reside below the Mason-Dixon line are now 0-2 in College Football Playoff games played above the Mason-Dixon line.

Teams with SOS records not as good as their opponents are now 0-4.

Not saying it is a trend, but maybe something to watch going forward.

Don't you know that Alabama's three losses were better than Indiana's one loss. They lost to Vanderbilt, Oklahoma and oh yeah that good loss to Tennessee.

The 12th or so seed teams all got their asses kicked. Like arguing about 11 seeds in the NCAA tournament, none of them mattered.

I get it. I'm not from the city Clayton. That's my middle name and I grew up as a townie in a college town and then went to that college when I grew up.

I just think the college football playoff product is diluted. They got the most deserving teams in and it's still a lopsided beginning.

Don't know why the playoffs are being dragged out so long. You win, you should play the next Saturday.

I'm so sorry it is so inconvenient for you.

Fuck the players and coaches that might want to spend time with friends and family during Christmas.

Let's take a little more detailed look at Indiana's and Alabama's schedules. And instead of obsessing over losses, let's take a look at wins. Indiana's impressive 11-1 record was made by 11 wins over a schedule that had only one game against a ranked team, which they lost. The 11 wins included one, count 'em, one team with a winning record, 7-5 Michigan. The combined records of the teams against whom they achieved their 11 wins were 51-81.

OTOH, Alabama's wins contained only two teams with losing records, Wisconsin and Auburn, both at 5-7. Four of their wins were against teams that were ranked when they played them, Georgia, Tennessee, Missouri and LSU. Six of their wins were against teams with winning records. The combined records of the teams Alabama beat was 71-40.

If Indiana had played Alabama's schedule, they would have been lucky to have come out with only three losses.

My beloved Huskers are 18-1-7 against the 'historical' SEC teams.

What the hell does that matter for shit going forward?
