I really don't understand why the concept of this map is so confusing? Or why people want to make that even worse.

If football were invading armies you just think of it as when you have no land you are roaming armies until you win a war with someone that has land. Then that land is yours. Even if you have lost every war up to the end of the season. You can always finish with land as long as you beat someone else that has some. It really isn't that complicated is it?

Are you saying all of Florida State's land is in France?

Because they originally belong to the closest FBS school. Just like how Maine, Montana, New Hampshire, etc can be included.
