I agree actually. I'm just disputing the notion that Presti is a shit GM whom couldn't hold onto Harden. It was evident as to why Harden wanted to be traded/not sign an extension.

Presti is like most GM's. He does some things well and some things not so well. He's good in the draft. He's not good managing the cap.

Honestly, if they can convince George to stay then I would say that the moves were a huge success. Sure Melo is going to suck again and be a huge waste of resources on the court, but he definitely helps to entice George to stay in OKC.

So 2019 will likely be more of the same but the Warriors are winning in 2019 anyway. For the 19-20 season the Thunder will have 2 All-NBA levels players a bunch of cap room. That is not a bad place to be.

They won't have cap space though.

Assuming PG signs a max, or close, they will have 95-100 million tied up between Russ, PG and Adams.

Really surprised at this. Melo still can contribute, but what he contributes isn't worth 28 million a year nor is it worth a starter's role.

Ryan Anderson and maybe a future 2nd rounder for Melo would work.

Gives OKC a stretch 4 that can shoot and well, not much else....

88 million for 2019-2020 before PG signs this summer.....if he does.

Some of that broken down:

RW makes 38 million
Adams makes 25 million
Roberson makes 10 million

Say George gets 30 million, that's 118 million for 2019-2020. Assuming Patterson picks up his team option. They have team options on Singler and Ferguson..

As long as GS can keep Curry, Cup, Clay, Nut kicker and Kerr they will win every year. Other teams can make moves and trick their fan bases into thinking they have a chance but they don't. GS deserves all the credit for putting together an unbeatable team.

The could also use the stretch provision on him.

LOL! When you posted about Ryan Anderson as a stretch 4, all I could think about was the stretch provision.

No reason to use the stretch provision on Melo at this point. Melo's in the last year of his deal, and if George signs with the Lakers, the Thunder don't have much room to work with anyway. And vice versa if George were to sign with OKC. I'd just let Melo's contract ride out.

Odds are PG is gone. Russ is a very loyal great person. But he needs to ask for a trade. OKC can trade Westbrook and start over. Let Presti do what he does best. Draft.

GS are definitely not unbeatable. The WCF proved that.

How is this surprising. This is a player option and no other team are going to offer him that kinda money.

If James goes to Philly. They still don't beat GS. If James goes to Houston and somehow they keep everyone they still don't have enough. If PG joins him in either place, they still don't have enough. So does some team somehow just get better? If James and PG both went to Boston which can't happen they could come close and still fail.

James, Kawhi and PG would wipe the floor with them
