Black Panther kicked ass in revenue earnings. I'm still blown away that it outperformed Infinity War on a global scale. How is that even possible? I mean, Black Panther was a good movie, but I'm amazed that that sole character's movie (which I see as a B character in the Marvel Universe compared to the likes of Iron Man/Hulk/Thor/Captain America) outperformed the aggregate of all of them in one movie.

For the record, it's not possible, since it didn't happen. Black Panther did kick ass in revenue earnings, but it did not remotely outperform Infinity War on a global scale. Infinity War crushed Black Panther on a global scale. What Black Panther did do was edge Infinity War in the US alone:

Infinity War worldwide: $2,048.4 million
Black Panther worldwide: $1,346.9 million

Black Panther domestic: $700.1 million
Infinity War domestic: $678.8 million

Easy. In the US, African Americans account for 15% of viewership of the average movie. For Black Panther, African Americans accounted for 37% of total viewership.

Without going political, it is obvious why BP did so well in the US. I agree, though, that it is kinda surprising that it still did better than A:IW, though. A:IW was a monster movie.
