Saw it yesterday. Bri Larson is bad ass ! Totally CGI job on Fury (obvious reason). Some parts didn't like but overall pretty decent. Jude Law is a vampire, dude doesn't are at all.

you have to take into consideration that Marvel wants to appeal to everyone they can. By having a female or an Asian hero, it expands their viewership. It is just smart business to do that...but you have people getting mad about it and that's stupid.

I am a little surprised Captain Marvel wasn't directed by a woman.

has a woman directed a superhero movie yet?
WW was done by a chick.

I have no prob with female/minority super heroes. It’s the “you go girl” aspect that bugs me, or the marketing of this movie a a new “HERo”.

Dude superheroes aren’t dude superheroes. They are superheroes. Why does Cpt. Marvel have to be a girl superhero? Why can’t she just be a superhero?

I enjoyed the movie, but I went in with pretty low expectations. The political takes were less pronounced than I was expecting, but there were a few heavy handed head-bashes that I thought were very unneeded (“I’m Just a Girl” during the space station fight for one).

BlackShirt’s critiques are all valid, but IMHO, a lot of those complaints would only be noticed if you are going in looking for them. I get it, though. Sometimes I get into a “hey, I’m just not buying this” mode with a movie. And that’s when I see all those “holes”. This movie was good ENOUGH, I thought, to avoid those rabbit holes though.

See I went in with low expectations as well. I read reviews, I watched some reviews online, everything was saying that this movie was TRASH. I thought some of the feminist scenes were ridiculous, but I also found one to be perfect, as I pointed out. I think because of my such low expectations THAT is the reason my initial take was a 7/10.

However, I am that 'armchair movie critic' guy. I don't catch everything, but I do notice things like that. I saw it with my dad and I kept turning to him saying "huh?", "how's that work?", "yeah right", or "that doesn't make sense" such as in relation to the Fury being at the bar and them already being next to Earth.

When we left, I LITERALLY asked in the car if I missed something as I pointed some of those things out.

Admittedly, I didn't catch the Nirvana song release date thing, but once I found out I was like... "C'mon man, who is researching this?!?!". I hate seeing/finding/catching silly mistakes like that. But I work with and around blood constantly, so I didn't understand the blue blood thing, but I can understand it being a movie thing because it isn't pertinent to the film.

But yeah, after thinking it all through.... 5/10. I flirt with 5.5 or 6 because I do think it is somewhat enjoyable to watch, there is just A LOT wrong with it.

because that isn't how the world sees it. The world sees female superheroes as oversized tits and asses that the horny nerds draw on them...shit look at the guys in this thread complaining that Larson isn't hot enough to be Capt Marvel because they can't spank it to her.

lol.. that is true... But really not the point... the reason why any minority superhero is labeled as their minority first is simply because there are not many of them, and they are good role models for little kids of that minority...

it is not a coincidence that most little girls favorite superheroes are female superheroes... its not a coincidence that most black kids prefer black superheroes... or whatever... Miss Marvel(not captain Marvel) has become very popular because she is the first Muslim Superhero...

With the exception of Wonder Woman what super hero has really been portrayed by a woman? I did get the feel of "girl power" in this movie but I'm fine with it. We've grown up in a world where it's really been dominated by male super hero's who have to "save the desperate woman. Why not switch it up a bit?

I did like how one of the major girl power moments the movie turned into HUMAN power instead...

I thought there was really 2 big girl power moments which they didn't hide as girl power moments

One was the daughter convincing her mother to go into space

the other was when the skrol called the mother a little lady, and then she retorted back that she will stick her foot up his ass...

exactly

and Marvel is all about expanding their market. This has nothing to do with SJWs or any of that BS people keep toting. It's about Marvel selling characters. The fans of the MCU are going to see the movie, but they need to keep expanding and getting more butts in the seats and to sell comics. That's why you have Miles Morales and the new Asian Hulk and the little black girl taking over for Iron Man, etc.

I really don't know why they haven't done a standalone Black Widow movie...I guess her storyline doesn't add anything to the big picture? It would be a one off with little to do with the Infinity Stones? Maybe they should have done that before Captain America?

The foot part was hilarious imo... Yeah, the daughter with a major power move there for sure!

the skrol turned it into a joke... but it was still a unneeded girl power move...

I feel like a Black Widow movie can't work if we already know that she is a good guy. Definitely should have been a Phase 1 movie.

Captain Marvel should have been before Avengers, as well.

I really think attaching all of these movies to the MCU hurts them but Im definitely in the minority.

It did. It's a woman super hero, what did you expect?

don't get me wrong, I liked the movie... I understand the need of girl power... and it didn't bother me... Just wish they hid it better...

What I mean by that, is in context the scene made no sense... so a skrol just had your daughter, and threatened everyone's life, and you are going to insult it... no way, you are going to be scared... you are not confronting the enemy... and definitely not over a little sexist comment...
