Nice work by Backstrom and Semin in the corner there

So went out to dinner (not by choice) and just tuned in to see the Habs up 2-0 and working some good chances on the PP. Does the boxscore accurately reflect the game? Washington throwing the kitchen sink, Halak standing tall, and MTL doing nothing since the Cammy double?

Yup, that's pretty much it. I can't really get on the Caps for playing a bad game. They played pretty well in the first and were absolutely dominant in the 2nd period. Halak is just making some great saves.

Is it me, or have the Pens/Caps been almost mirrors of each other this playoffs? Hopefully tonight follows suit yet again b/c this game strikes me as very similar to the Pens/Sens last night.

Just need that first goal to quiet the crowd and let that doubt start to creep in...

Yes, In my biased opinion, Washington has pretty much controlled all but a five minute span of the first period. Halak has totally stood on his head as many of the 33 shots on goal have been quality shots. If he was doing this against another team, it would be alot easier to admire. Since it's against my Caps, I'm re-living playoffs past where our superior team somehow manages to face a team whose goalie is unconscious...Maybe there is a curse afterall.

I told my wife that too. Only we have a two goal deficit to overcome as opposed to three. I've seen this act before. 4-2 Caps.

So to start the period I see Semin, Backstrom and Ovechkin twice with prime scoring chances from the slot. Halak looks great. And then MTL goes the other way and BOOM out of nowhere they score.

Like a hostage situation? ; )

My girlfriend's good about Pens games. I've fully converted her and she's already more knowledgeable than half the other hockey fans I run into at bars.

But there's only so much hockey she can take. If it's not the Pens, then social commitments take priority.
