Oh, and I'll say again... Flash and Semin have disappeared in the playoffs tonight. Semin had bout 4-5 great chances in the slot and put them all into the chest of Halak or wide of the goal. Flash had an open net from the angle and put it back into Halak's body. These two have been terrible.

Terrible? I don't know about that. They are getting there chances, just can't find the back of the net.

Right, which is pretty much their job, so yeah, terrible. And I didn't mean tonight, I meant in the series. Semin was more than a point per game during the season and a 40-goal scorer. Flash is a 20-goal scorer with 51 points in 69 games. So far this series... 2 assists combined between the two of them.

I haven't seen three diving calls all year...

I didn't see the 2nd Lapierre one, how was it? CSN didn't show it again, or I missed it.
I wasn't happy with the Gionta one, but they never showed a replay. While there are numerous Habs players who dive or embellish at times (lapierre included), Gionta is not one of them IMO.
IMO if your going to call a dive you should be certain its a dive, and 2 out of the 3 calls tonight seemed iffy to me. Luckily they didn't affect the outcome.

I also would have liked some explanations for some of the misconducts/unsportsmanlike penalties in game 3, but again once called CSN never mentioned the reasons why.

Halak gave one of the best playoff performances I have ever seen tonight.

Semin should have scored 2 or 3 different times but insted, like you said, he just put the puck into the belly of Halak. Flash had an empty net, but it was a really sharp angle, so I give him some slack there. But other than that play, he played like he had the rest of the series, like shit.

Congrats Habs fans. I am amazed, but it was pretty amazing to see the Bell Centre rocking. Game 7 will be interesting. I expect Washington to control most of the play, but Halak can steal this series.

Gob: I’m the pathetic one, Buster, not you. I totally freaked out in front of that prosecutor today. Like a little girl. In a little dress. Little saddle shoes. Little pigtails.

Buster: Wow, that does sound like a little girl.

I thought all three diving calls were pretty brutal. Belanger better be careful in game seven. The way things were called tonight, spitting your teeth out may be considered an embellishment.

I thought both the diving calls they showed replays of were very weak calls. The third one they never showed a replay of, but I thought it looked like a weak call from the live video too. Not impressed by the refs trying to 'make a statement' in this one.

I was a work, but was able to keep and eye on things. Halak clearly stole this one. But, it seems like every year we end up saying "Oh, they were playing a hot goalie" about the Caps. There are only so many times that excuse is going to fly, and it has stopped for me at this point. Great teams find a way and the Caps simply are not finding ways to win.

Obviously they were in a similar situation last year, but it is very difficult for me to expect them to win at this point. Montreal was supposed to be playing golf already, they have nothing to lose, they have all the momentum and a goalie whose stopped what? All but 2 shots of the last 80ish he has faced? The Caps already have a reputation for post season underachievement, falling to a #8 as a #1 would be crushing. They would quickly find themselves transitioning from the most successful team in Capitals history to its biggest disappointment.

Yup. Agree. I think tonight was about a big goalie, but they gave a weak effort at home in game 5. They play that night like they did tonight and the series would have been over. This is the danger of letting a team hang around. I knew this was going to be a tougher matchup than most people were saying, but you have to close out a team when you are up 3-1 and on home ice.

C'mon guys, we've seen this before. What's gonna piss me off is when someone says they choked! What did they choke??? They threw 54 friggin' shots on net, many of the high quality variety...Halak was outstanding! It's not an excuse, it's a reason!

If anyone accuses the Caps of choking, it will be with regards to the whole series, not that game. That wasn't theft, that was grand larceny.

Halak needed one more save to triple the amount of saves Varlamov had.

fact is, as stated above, good teams find a way to get the puck in the net past a good goalie. Did the pens not score against Leclaire because he was amazing in the final 2 games of that series? No, they found a way to score.
