Is it true that both Caps and Pens fans were randomly chanting "Flyers suck" in unison?

YUP :D:D:D:D

It was surprisingly friendly between the two crowds. They tried to set the sections up as pens-caps-pens-caps-pens-caps (i guess for the color thing) but there was a lot of bleed over and the fans were all cool in my section but the "Flyers Suck!" thing happened towards the end of the second and was hilarious.

As far as the weather effecting the game, it definitely slowed it down considerably in the third. You could see the puck leaving a wake in the open end of the stadium zone (which appeared significantly worse than the other end).

hard to grasp and capture the same overall atmosphere when it's 50 degrees and raining vs freezing cold and/or snowing. Just not the same.

And neither goalie yesterday wore a toque

I was very, very disappointed about that.
You are outdoors people. Step up your game. Have some fun.

Call me a bit biased, but all the magic of the WC was in Buffalo with the Sabres/Pens.

Nothing has really matched that type of atmosphere or what an outdoor game is all about.

I dont know...something about the Red Wings' coaching staff wearing the old school hats always makes me like that classic the best. I'm expecting the game up in Canada next month to make this classic look like an overhyped piece of turd...

I think this one was the worst, but it doesn't call for all this negativity... Just poor sportsmanship by the Penguins organization and its fans. Had they won, there wouldn't be all this bitching by the fans, and I lost any respect I garnered for the team when they walked off without shaking hands. The play was FINE, it was not sluggish, it seemed faster than 2008 and 2010. 2009 was the fastest, and yesterdays was right behind it. Buffalo and Boston both had great feels to it, but agreed with IPW that the atmosphere from 2008 has not been, and prolly will not be, topped.

I don't know about all of the negativity, but I had a great time. The atmosphere was fantastic. The view was great. We parked at the casino, so we just chilled for a few hours while the angry traffic moved out. The game was exciting and pretty hard hitting. The teams hate each other. The fake snow was hilarious.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Well I'm happy you had a good time, I would have as well. It's still a great event to be a part of regardless of the outcome. I really wish I had gone last year. I just hope Pitssburghs' opponent is someone good next year ;)

What was up with the hand shaking thing? They didn't really show much of what each team was doing after the game, so I couldn't tell if it was a waiting thing, or just a pissed off thing. I suppose 24/7 may answer that question.

“There was no less bite. We were supposed to shake hands at the end, but I guess they didn’t want to shake hands with us,” said Caps forward Jason Chimera. “I don’t think we’d want to shake hands either if we lose. It didn’t lose any bite. I played in Edmonton [in the 2003 outdoor Heritage Classic] and there was no hitting at all because it was too damn cold to hit anybody. But [tonight] there was hitting, there was everything – good goals, good saves. It was good night overall and a fun night for hockey.”

I mean, I'm pretty sure both sides would'nt have liked the idea. I was fine with the Caps, wasn't any 'cheap shots' (Sid one was just a bump that caught him funny), but wasn't happy when OV started cheering at center ice with 15 seconds left and the Pens rushing up ice. I respect OVs ability, but the sportsman-like thing to do is finish out the game at least.

I saw that, and I am pretty sure he was actually calling for a change, he was turned towards the bench. i do not think he knew how much time was left.

It was a WC tradition, regardless of whether or not it was a regular season game. I was seriously shocked when the Pens just walked off... I thought they held themselves at a pretty high level as far as class goes, but that completely obliterated that notion.
