He might. That would be a huge discount, though.

I wouldn't pay him 20mil+, but I wouldn't pay cutler or romo 5mil. The market will though.

If he wins back to back Superbowls, I could see the market going wild for him. Otherwise he's a damn good 3 year QB with a bright future who will make about 15 million a year with the next contract.

I'll take that wager easily. $15 million is ridiculous. He would have to tank the next season or suffer a serious injury not to be getting at least $20 million

Unless he takes a discount to win. I could see it, foolish or not.

Folks here are toking on some good shit. Wilson is under contract for 2015 for 953,519.

» Over the Cap- Russell Wilson Salary Cap and Contract Page

Now he can take that and be happy, or.....he can play out his contract and see if he can make up 14 million he left on the table.

We have a wager. Avatar or signature?

JDM you didn't take me up on my wager, so hush up. Making up 14 million isn't easy. You got to stay healthy, play well and hope every thing falls in place, versus a bird in hand, which is a lot of money.
It's really a no brainer and I'm very sure on my stance.

Because he could very well elect not to. That doesn't mean he can't easily make up the 15mil season if he waits it out. He's a lock for 20 per if he wants it, especially with a growing cap. He could sign a 3 year contract and make up your difference.

What happens if he has a career ending injury, or just not looking all that special or just not special enough? Making up 14 million with a three year contract leaves him with a plus 1 million ( if he signs for 20 million) all while taking all the risks. Not going to happen. Only a idiot would take that chance and Wilson isn't stupid.

Except any deal won't be three years. It will be 5-7. And 20 is the low end if the cap grows as projected.

The only serious risk is injury. He's already shown little. It's all hype. But the hype is enough to get him a huge deal.

Geez, you think he's the next Peyton Manning for god sakes? Or do you just feel GMs are stupid?

Oh also to answer your question about are those cap numbers the same throughout the contract well not completely but the average for most of those guys I listed is around $18-22 million a year. Heck in 2015 there are 13 guys making over $15 million for the quarterback position so close to half the quarterbacks in the league at least making $15 million by that point. So unless you consider Russell Wilson worse than half the quarterbacks in the league I have a hard time seeing him take $15 million or less per year. I do think he will give a bit of a discount but with the Cap going up a discount for a Quarterback will be in that $20 million range. I mean when average quarterbacks in the league that haven't won a Super Bowl are already getting that you have to think a Super Bowl winning quarterback will get that.
