I watch Pats Football Weekly and Hart can be a little hard to take but aside from Mulligan being on the list, I guess he's not far off.

Talib's injuries worry me.

I'd put Edleman at the top of my list. There's NOTHING more frustrating than dropped balls and the offense needs at least one rock to count on while the others come along. The kid doesn't drop much.

I absolutely agree with you on Edleman, he's a keeper for sure. The one other thing I would add is...having receiver after receiver getting hurt, that just shrews things up for the offense. Need guys that can stay on the field.

Folks are projecting him to sign at 9+ million, with a possible shoulder problem? You talked me out of ever wanting to sign him.

Haha don't get me wrong he is a good football player. If he is your #2 guy then you are doing pretty darn good but the problem is the salary side of it. I would honestly love to have him back with the broncos as he has a nice connection with manning and it helps keep our offense together. The price is what it all comes down to. If he wants somewhere in the $6 million range I would sign him in a heart beat. Anymore than that though it would be hard to justify

I like a good football conversation. On the Seahawks board we get lots of visitors. Guys like chumler7 and other Bronco fans stop in, JDM drops in from time to time, lots and lots of 49ers fans like chatting with us, many others across SportsHoopla like to drop in.
It livens up the conversation and makes for some good back and forth. As long as some one isn't simply trolling, I find it all good.
Oh by the way one of JDMs conversations , turned into a avatar wager. He's always welcomed to come back for another.

That's the range I had his value pegged at, but the injury thing would have me worried.

And if he did get limited to that, edelman's got to be dirt cheap.

Pats can't afford to let Edelman walk. He's the most reliable of the group.

I agree, and I don't think he does. But he's a slot guy and that just doesn't command much money. We should be in good shape to do so without breaking the bank.

Hope your right, but some slot guys get big money, Harvin comes to mind, but of course he has some added skills that count also.

Harvin was the example I was going to make as an exception, but he's not really a slot guy. He's more of the Desean Jackson type. A legitimate number 2/borderline number one receiver. A legit burner (even a small one) is different than someone who is a good route runner with good hands with no size.

Cruz is a slot receiver making I think $8,600,000. I'm sure there are others.

Again, speed. It makes mediocre guys like Mike Wallace get treated like they're good.

Market, 4 or 5 per, maybe. Maybe less. I think that undervalues him slightly but slot guys are undervalued as a rule. I think he's straight up better than welker but he's less established and ex-patriots receivers don't exactly have a great track record.

You guys saw branch's awsomeness, and he won a (undeserved) Super Bowl MVP here.

If the rest of your receiving corp was better, I'd agree with you. However since the Pats can't let him walk, I'm guess $6,000,000.

Edelman is not getting 6 million.
There are lots of reasons teams will think this year was a fluke.
Only one healthy year is the biggest and as JDM said, Pats receivers have not been a bargain when they were picked up by others.

I have been saying al along that Edelman is the real deal but he is not going to get that kind of money from anybody. His best bet is a good, long term contract. If he takes a one year from somebody and gets hurt, he will kill his value. He has to look for a 3 year deal or better....

The patriots are better at doing business than allowing their situation to give their targets leverage. They simply don't get leveraged and don't overpay.

For the record I'd be OK with 6 per of needed. I just don't believe it will be.
