biggest complainer was The Capitals George McPhee wasnt it? he just went there from Vancouver. everyone was just upset that we got an inside track on a marvellous talent. it happens so infrequently with us

it was the caps gm/scouts who complained loudest but mcphee became their gm in 1997 ... listen to the bmac 1040 podcast from yesterday ... they had mike penny (former head scout) on and he had amazing insight on how the canucks figured bure was eligible for that draft ... almost spy novel calibre stuff ... and his stuff on trying to convine pat quinn at the draft table to "waste" a 6th rounder on bure was excellent

i think george mcphee (then canucks asst gm) was actually the guy who supposedly tried to sneak "payment in cdn dollars" into bures post 1994 stanley cup finals contract which almost made bure's head explode

Yeah McPhee was one of the biggest complainers. I know Bill Torrey wasn't happy one bit. I think Torrey's complaint had something to do with Bure's age & whether or not he was eligible for the draft.

Had the privilege 2 play with Pavel Bure. Typical night would consist of: - 1 backcheck - 4 strides all game - 4 packs of gum - 2 to 3 goals
