I was thinking more ring of honour than jersey in the rafters, but hey it's not my call...

Hard to do with him in Hall if Fame

No denying his talent on ice
Very easy to deny it off the ice

I'm ok with it he was an amazing player I actually don't think Naslund should be up there but instead be on the Ring

I think he told them he wasn't interested in the Ring of Honour.
it was banner, or piss off.

I'm OK with him being up there, and agree that Naslund should not be. To be honest, I'm a little iffy on Smyl, too. He was the little engine that could, but I think he's up there as much for community service as anything. As a hockey player, he was never a dominant anything. he topped 80 points ONCE in his career.
Given that the Sedins will be up there as well, we had better get one of them fancy silver trophies that you can drink beer our of pretty quick. this could be getting embarrassing.
yay for mediocrity!

i think my opinion on whether Bures number should be retired by the Canucks changes depending on the time of the month (pre-emptive: no ... Im not on the rag)

I dont know how i feel about it today lol

yah i guess :noidea: best player to play for the canucks ever ... world class talent ... hands down ... but ... some would have you believe he's an asswipe ... soooooooo????

the franchise set the tone to retire players numbers that melded the hockey skills and accomplishments (questionable) with service to the community ... so they retire Bures number?

anyways ... Im fine with it (today - lol) ... lets celebrate the great talent he was and the amazement all us canucks fans felt when we had to pinch ourselves (as Don Taylor says) to realize after his first shift v the Jets > "we got this guy??? ... He's on the Canucks??? He's on our team???" after 20+ years of losing with scrub players.

/Chapman was doing a summary of Bures career with the canucks on the morning show today and he talked about so much "stuff" being on the periphery with Bure ... and then he glossed over and listed the stuff regarding rumours of why he wanted out of town ... "Messier, Duchovny, etc"

what? I never heard this Duchovny one or Ive long since forgotten it ... anyone know it and care to share?

Botchfords story today has great drug induced Gino quotes

Gino Odjick: "One time, Pavel ran at UBC and he timed him at 10 seconds flat in the 100 metres." (I think the watch may have been broken.)

I will say I really enjoyed watching those Pat Quinn coached Canucks (of course I am a big Trevor Linden fan)

what? I never heard this Duchovny one or Ive long since forgotten it ... anyone know it and care to share?

from the googles:

Pavel Bure says he did not nearly get into a duke out with X-Files star David Duchovny in a Vancouver restaurant recently over the hockey star's squeeze, model Dahn Bryan.
"I've been seeing her about a year and a half and this never happened, it's garbage," says Bure about a report the Russia Rocket was about to take a swing at Bryan's ex-boyfriend when Duchovny confronted Bure about his treatment of the 21-year-old model.
"It's not true, it never happened," said Bryan Friday night while awaiting for Bure after the skills competition.
The report said Duchovny was sitting nearby the pair at dinner when Bure asked Bryan what she ever saw in the 35-year-old star. The remark upset Bryan who proceeded to the washroom in tears, whereupon Duchovny allegedly came over and asked Bure, "Why do you have to be such an ass?"

Wait a sec, Duchovny actually asked somebody else why they have to be such an ass?

Man, that's rich coming from him.

I had that one and a 9-0 over Edmonton (the one where Gino dropped Bucky and was feeding him rights all the way down) on a VHS tape that i would play on repeat in the background at parties. Fun stuff.
