Nice. and even before the Avs had a chance to. :)

I wonder if the wound has healed for Bure to receive the honour, too.
(and does he deserve it, given the way he left?)

Homer glasses aside, I do think he deserves this.

Yeah, I guess he didn't like my Chicken Swede comments (I was joking Markus)

Oh you're going to eat my chicken.....

Did Markus have a wee-beady eye?

lol...How can you hate 'The Naslund'?

Because he puts an addictive shot in every one of his snappers that makes ya crave for it nightly smahtass.

Good for Nazzy. And since Burkie is long, long gone, Bure's number should be up there, too. And he should be in the HHoF.

When is Pittsburgh's Alex Stojanov jersey retirement? Was a pretty fair trade, if you ask me. :P

I see Oilers beat writer Dan Tencer couldn't resist taking a shot...

Twitter / Dan Tencer: The Canucks are retiring M ...

I don't know, Dan, maybe you should take a look at the deadbeat dad's jersey hanging in the rafters at Rexall Place before casting stones...

true ... Oilers tactic is to celebrate the statistical greatness as opposed to the greatness of a person

because of the Canucks franchise history of mediocrity, their jersey retirements are more about honouring the person and his impact in the community during a long tenure with the team, than the stats. They might not have meant shit if they played on another team but thats the way it is in our city. Its not like we are retiring jerseys of players who played here for 1 year.

last night they established the ring of honour that they can stick Pavel Bure in

Stojanov has potential...........:D

maybe one day, he'll make the firefighter hall of fame

/unfortunately, I think more times than not, that honour usually comes from dieing in the line of duty :(

I had always hoped that would retire Gradin's number, but I guess the Ring of Honour will do.

well he was a higher draft pick than Naslund.

good choice just based on years of service to the organization alone
