Wild have released Dumba for the WJHC tourney. I guess there's still a remote chance that the Leafs may do the same with Morgan Rielly.

Does it bother anyone else that Rielly's name has the "i" and the "e" reversed from the traditional spelling???

Who does this kid think he is? Dwyane Wade?

The spelling that I love is "Laveranues Coles". How in the fuck is that pronounced La-verr-nee-us?

I think they will, just because if they don't I think they'll get torn a new one by pretty much everyone at this point. He was partnered with Phaneuf at practice yesterday, which means he's probably in the press box again tonight. Sitting him in the NHL when he could be taking a leadership role and playing first line minutes and playing in all types of important situations in Malmo seems too idiotic for words, I don't even think the Leafs would do that.

Sutter wasn't impressed with the effort in the first part of practice #1, so it was 30 minutes of battle drills.

Drouin and Dumba are the alternate captains.

I think it will be Mark Masters - He drew the short straw.

I'm probably just being an old curmudgeon, but I enjoyed this tourney a heck of a lot more when the TSN hype machine wasn't going full bore behind it. In the same way, I enjoyed March Madness in the late 70's/early 80's before it blew up to be the monster it is today.

Im with you ... loved those mid 90's junior tournaments ... i dont seem to watch religiously like i used to

dont get me wrong ... TSN is excellent at taking a sport/event on the fringe and building it into a cultural phenomenon ... cfl/curling/world juniors ... its just a bit much for what really is a 3 or 4 team tournament imo
