You know, I don't think a lot of Americans realize why games like these are such a big deal to us. Yes, hockey is our national game, one we take great pride in. But in terms of playing you guys, this in reality is the only team sport we can beat the USA in. Maybe we get a few random meetings in baseball from time to time. But mostly, when it comes to international meetings in team sport, America owns us.

Winning in hockey, especially over the USA, makes us feel less small sometimes, at least from my perspective. Like we belong. Is it really too much to ask to have this one thing? This one moment of glory?
