if you think that was a good trade then you are an allen puppet . smith the qb i can live with , smith the trade and defending it is being manipulated by your master BA

My Redskins brother, “if you think” that was a bad trade considering the hand dealt, you also must believe everything “you” read on the internet as true…then your director of information “Pierre Salinger”, must be very proud of your efforts.

Mitz, are you referring to former press secretary Salinger of both presidents, Kennedy and Johnson? If so, dude died in1979. I am curious though, why him??

Riddle me this batman..

When Bruce thinks he did a GOOD job on a deal, does he usually try and follow that up by a move to try and recoup resources lost in his good deal??

Right, my mistake, he was 79 when he died, got the numbers mixed up, but again, why him?

skinsdad and shark wont accept what you just said. If it wasn't KC they will hate anyone. The organization gave us a good QB b/c they knew KC was leaving no matter what. That is why I liked the trade. People saying they didn't like the trade b/c of Fuller is just laughable.

The trade should have been Moses instead of Fuller. :dhd:

If Alex Smith was 30 and better, it would be a good trade.

It was a poor trade because we are not set up for Alex to succeed.

IM just finding it funny that people are pleading...

Can we move on already... but we really should try to get something for the QB we wanted to move on from first.

I wouldn’t expect much better results unless some of the defense improves and the running game is better. Once again, I don’t think most of us think Smith is light years ahead of Cousins or even better... more like equal. I would put us right now at 8-8 next year with the team we have got.
Outsiders point of view.
Thats the issue. Had Allen simply signed Cousins 2 years ago your team would have moved past the whole QB issue and had better resources to fix other issues.
Instead they lowball Cousins, then through the tag end up paying him all the guaranteed money he originally asked for. Fast forward to today, now the team trades for an old QB then extends him with 70M guaranteed.
Allen has bungled this from the beginning and I dont see an end in sight.

Ok. Hindsight is 20/20. What you say is fair.

Now I have a question for you. If Daks contract ended today, and based off of what he has shown the last coupla years. Would you (if you were Jerrah) give him a 5-6 year deal, say around 24mill APY with a shit load of $$$ guaranteed. Once again based on what he has shown during the ‘16 and ‘17 seasons???

I wasnt asked, and IM not a fan of Dak, But the simple and smart answer is.. yes you pay it and move forward.

Because the other option is, you over extend on some free agent QB, Trade for some one elses QB (again likely over extending), or you start all over and delve into the rookie pool where you might find a Wentz. Or you might end up like the Browns, Redskins, Bills and Jets... constantly looking for a QB and thus ignoring or at minimum neglecting other parts of the roster because... you got to find a QB.

Of course they would. They aren’t of the delusion good QBs are easy to find. I wouldn’t because I am not impressed by Dak.

Prescott has shown to be capable enough if you put the right talent around him.

$24M annual and a boat load of guaranteed money is just a tad over $23.5 annual and $71M guaranteed we gave for Smith (not even counting the trade capitol on top of it), who while has shown to be a consistent game manager is 34 not 24.

I get that but everything Dallas does is predicated on the run. Let’s just say I am glad they moved on from Romo.

If we saw 4 years of Dak as he played in year 1 hell yes. If we saw 4 years of Dak play somewhere in between years 1 and 2 hell yes. Even last season he has shown he can win in this league so again I'd lean towards a LTD

Before the Redskins first Franchised Cousins he had shown he can win and has the makings of a Franchise QB, but Allen tried to get cute and offer him a joke of a contract. Under that tag Cousins again shown he is a Franchise QB and instead of making peace Allen again lowballed him, thus pretty much ensuring Cousins will never sign with the Skins.
Too many fans mistake Franchise QB with Elite QB. No Cousins isn't Elite, but he damn sure is a Franchise QB.

I wouldn't go that far. I've followed Smith his whole career, and he's definitely not an elite QB. So anyone down on KC for not being elite shouldn't be happy with Smith. Then again, ya'll fans should be happy in that Smith was the best, most accomplished Qb on the market, and this was probably one of the best possible outcomes of this offseason at the QB position b/c FO wasn't going to pay Cousins, questions on Bridgewater's knee, Bradford is made of glass, etc. This move means the team doesn't have to draft a 1st rd in this draft--they can wait a year or 2 if they want and build the rest of the team or they can still take a QB if one falls into their lap.

Having said all that, I'll admit that while this is not an ideal fit for Smith--his best two seasons, he had a good running game and a strong defense--the Skins players/offense do fit him pretty well.

--The OL is pretty good when healthy and odds are it'll be healthier this year than last.
--Smith throws best to RBs, TEs and inside receivers, and those are the Skins best receiving threats
--Smith and Vernon Davis had great chemistry in SF
--Gruden runs a lot of play-action passes and Smith's best passes to WRs come off of PA
--Smith's mobility means he can more easily escape sacks and you'll see more bootlegs and rollouts
--Smith is a very durable player and doesn't take a lot of hits, could be playing well another 4 years

It's true, you'll get fewer big plays with Smith, but you'll get fewer turnovers as well. I don't expect the Skins to finish any worse than they did last season and there is a good chance they'll finish better imo.

Turnovers can be attributed to situation. Alex Smith doesn’t get to sit back and throw only to guys wide open here. He doesn’t have the run game to take the pressure off the defense.

5 wins at best.

IM just going to point out, I think GK and Skinsdad are even more perturbed about how this worked out than me, and I was not sure that was possible. LOL

You didn’t really answer my question. Based off of what you have seen from Prescott in his first two years...if his contract ended today... would you tag him, or give him a multi year, almost but not quite #1 QB money???
