You forget the AP was part of the original BCS. The AP National Championship is the most respected title in college football. Been in existence since 1936. It's ranking are reported in every major newspaper and every Internet sports site. If you win the AP title you win 1/2 of the nc. That is the reason why USC and LSU split the title in 2003.

Just because you say it means nothing is meaningless to me. When a poll is included in every newspaper, television broadcast, ESPN, and the poll is posted everyweek, it seems to me the trophy has a great deal of meaning.

Not saying we're gonna win it, but because of upsets we have a legitimate shot at it.

and in that case a sec team or one loss ksu/oregon will still win the AP title. the big ten is down this year and without continued games to showcase the team it just isnt going to happen.

The best bet is for Georgia to beat Alabama, Notre Dame to lose at USC, and Georgia play another team like Florida St. If the game is close OSU could wind up number 1 in the AP. Still a longshot, but chances look much better than before this weekend.
